I need help! I want to transfer from CSU to a CC

So I'm barely finishing my first fall semester as a freshmen as SDSU . & I really don't like it much because I'm away from home & I'm still home sick. & I think being far away, has affected my learning. I'm already not doing so well & I don't have enough FA money to pay for my dorm this month. So I was thinking if I should go to a CC near home? And if they're still accepting enrollment right now? Can someone help me please.

I would call your CC ASAP. In theory, they should be accepting students for next semester now, but with the current economic conditions many CCs are filling up faster than usual.

Good luck!

thnnnnnnks! & I was wondering, if I were to go to a CC , how would the process be? Who would I notify at SDSU & do I need to send my transcripts to the following CC? Also, what if I didn’t pass a class at SDSU, how would that effect everything? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get it done asap.

Your CC will have the most accurate info. Failing a class won’t affect your transfer to the CC, but you will have to submit all transcripts from all colleges if you apply to a four year school from a CC. Your CC may or may not include other courses taken at different schools in your CC GPA. SDSU probably won’t release your transcript until your account is paid. The registrar is a good place to start with the withdrawal process. If there is some chance that you might want to return after the semester, see if you can take a leave of absence.

So if I had to talk to someone at SDSU, do I tell them I want to take a leave of absence or just going to a CC? & also how would financial aid be handled with the transfer? & what steps would I need to take to let sdsu know that I’m thinking of transferring to a CC? Sorry, it the questions seem repetitive. I’m just confused & stresss with all this school stuff

Many California CCs have an open door admissions that is very minimal. You can often do the whole transcript thing later, even semesters later in some cases. You can often apply online so you could literally sign up today via your computer. Which Cali-CC would you be attending?

As for a leave of absence/withdrawing from the CSU you will need to look for specific information. Go see a Dean or school Counselor tomorrow to get all your options and make a plan. They should be able to give you a range of options.

Can’t speak for all California CCs, but SMC is full to capacity. Winter session isn’t happening for anyone that doesn’t have priority enrollment. There are very few classes left for Spring.

Make up your mind now because waiting might extend your college career by a semester or two.

I’m going to attend to Long Beach City College for now since its right next to my house then make a transfer later to CSULB. & I went in check with the office of registrar here, & she told me that I don’t need to do a leave of absence, just not to register for any classes here & to not pay anything. Just to enroll & register for classes at my desired CC. Hopefully thats the correct information she told me.

xiir0kc, that information is correct. at least when i stopped attending my private school to enroll at cc, all that i had to do was unenroll of the spring courses at my private school, or in your case, not enroll in classes at sdsu, and your school won’t bill you or charge you for classes, or housing, you won’t owe anything. however since you are in housing, i don’t know if you need to do something else. i wasn’t housing at my private school so don’t know about the process there.

in regards to community college, you just literally go to admissions office at lbcc, and apply, and you’ll be given a registration date. if you’ve taken college level english at sdsu, your transcripts(if you meet with a counselor), might waive placement tests. when you get a schedule of classes at lbcc, or online, just follow the igetc/csu general ed plan for selecting your classes.
