I Need Help Maximizing My Chances of Getting Into MIT

Hey everybody! I’m an International Sophmore hoping to get into MIT, I’d love any advice regarding how to maximize my chances of getting in! Here’s my profile:

Stats:
GPA: 4.0 (School doesn’t offer unweighted)
SAT: 1550
(I’m hopefully taking IB classes since that’s the most difficult curriculum offered here, pretty much no school offers decent AP subjects, and local universities aren’t letting me take classes, I am auditing MIT OpenCourseWare Online though)

ECs:

Track and Field: Pretty sure I am the Captain by default, and I regularly do competitions, have a handful of awards, hopefully, I’ll make it to Nationals next year. Also, I am training to do a marathon if all goes well.
Research: I did a Research Internship collecting Data for a Local Hospital’s Research ventures. Hopefully, I plan on doing a “local” RSI program by a nearby research institute. I also plan of formally undergoing RSI in my Senior summer, or another formal RSI “branch”, which is run in the same fashion just at a different university. Where I come from, those ar em,y best chances of making it to ISEF, independent research is hugely overlooked, and reaching to professors pretty much never works (I’ve tried, will keep at it though).
Writing: I like to write poetry, and I plan on self-publishing a book over the summer. I also have a blog that I love to write in. I also tried submitting work to international papers but to no avail. I did get featured in several student-run magazines though.
Miscellaneous Projects: A bunch of random tinkering and engineering projects I like to do, like attaching a motor to my bike, building circuits, etc.; really plan on piggybacking on this for one of my MIT supplements.
MUN: Have my own conference; have been running it for 2 years, also the President of the School Club; have over 30 experiences and 29 Awards.
Public Speaking and Debate:L President and Founder of the School’s Club, pretty darn good at it, but lack of local competitions is super limiting. I also did an internship teaching underprivileged kids about debate, public speaking, and communication in general.
Clowning: Yes, I very occasionally clown at parties, it really isn’t all that impressive but I like it and I can write one hell of an essay on it.
Non-Profit: Pretty standard event-holding non-profit, I organize events about things I’m passionate about. It has pretty decent numbers too.
Non-Profit 2: Generic Mental Health things, but I have enough descriptive abilities to make it seem much more wow.

Okay so, assuming I write mean-ass essays, there has to be more that I could do? Because I genuinely feel that I really lacking something “wow”. So, any advice? Any mew ECs I should take up? All 6 people from my country who get into MIT did it by being Olympiad Golden Boys, so I’m really really worried.

Dragon, the best thing you can do is to find other colleges (in your own country and the US) that you can love just as much as MIT. If 6 people from your country out of the 7 who apply get in every year- you look like a strong prospect. If that’s 6 out of 500, then finding plan B is a better use of your time than trying to figure out how to change your odds…

Worrying about getting into a school with a very low acceptance rate is a waste of energy. Make a balanced list of colleges to apply to. The only thing you should worry about right now is ensuring you have enough time to enjoy a few more years of being a kid.

Google the famous MIT essay “Applying Sideways.” That will tell you all you need to know about improving your odds of getting into MIT. And the clown thing is interesting. Definitely find a way to mention that somehow.

You definitely have lots of amazing ECs, but just be careful that because you are involved in so many things, you could distract the admission officers from what is really meaningful for you. Good luck!
