I need help on deciding between two schools

Hi, this is my first post
I have gotten my decisions back from colleges and limited it down to two schools
University of Michigan Ann Arbor and Stony Brook Suny

I am not sure which one to choose.
My major will be mechanical engineering
And I live in New York
I just want to hear some other peoples opinion before I make a decision.

Also I am waitlisted from Binghamton and RPI

[Mechanical | Rankings | US News](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/engineering-doctorate-mechanical)

Michigan is number 5 for mech engineering. If you have no financial issues, i.e., going to SUNY is a lot cheaper than UM, Michigan is your best choice.

Thanks
but, my parents do not want to pay the tuition for Michigan since its only a state university

If you can pay for UMich and you like the environment,

then by all means, GO TO MICHIGAN.

Not all state schools are created equal. Michigan’s opportunities and rep will go farther than a SUNY’s, though a great education is certainly possible at both.
