I. Need. Help. On. Decisions. Please D:

I’m a native NoCal who chose Ohio State over UCD, UCSB and Washington and loved it.

The cold wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected, and I came to love being able to enjoy four distinct seasons.

Maybe this link will help: [Majors | Pre-Professional Programs](Majors | Pre-Professional Programs)

Pre-med is clearly considered an interest area, not a major. If you have not declared a major, you will need to choose one and OSU offers many. Then you would be assigned an advisor from your college or department who would help you schedule classes that work toward completing your major requirements and fulfilling med school prerequisites- classes in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and anatomy. They may also refer you to a pre-health advisor.

OSU vs. UCSB? Why in the world would you leave Santa Barbara to come to Ohio?? I would stay in Cali and go to med school in state as well. After living in Santa Barbara you will be greatly disappointed in Ohio.

I have heard in state costs for med school in California are low but competition is fierce. As far as Ohio being a disappointment for Californians, I would not necessarily agree. A friend of mine moved to Ohio from San Diego many years ago and completely fell in love with having seasons here. I think he told me that it “charmed the hell out of him” to hear the birdies singing in the trees when spring came after a long winter.

@RMGsmom, I already declared a major though :confused: but thank you for all you help and information! :slight_smile: it was much appreciated. And yeah, I heard that people love it and I know I will too :)

@Cincinnati, I never lived in Santa Barbara but I’ve stayed by the beach before on vacation. It’s gorgeous but I don’t think it’s for me. :/

@Lenny, I love the cold so I shouldn’t be too bad!

So are you going to OSU?

Lauren- You can declare Pre-med as a plan but it isn’t a major. You will not graduate with a BS or BA in Pre-med because there is no program for it. Many people who have Pre-med as a plan opt to major in biology or chemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences. However, there are many other options. Call Admissions for a better explanation.

@alwaysleah, yes ma’am :D

Cool, I’m sure you’ll have an awesome experience! Good luck with everything :)

Thank you and thank you for all of your help :)

Go to OSU! Columbus to me has more culture, but I may be biased as I live on this side of the US and I don’t really like Cali. OSU is a great school though.
