I Need Help on Score Reports!!!

Hi guys. So I took the SAT to see what it was like last year (sophmore) and I did flat out terrible (1630). However, I have been prepping for my ACT now and am hopefully prjecting a 34+. But unfortunelty, my SAT scores have accidently been sent to 4 colleges. This is where I am lost. When I send in my final application senior year, will those colleges look at that score and will they hurt me alot? thks!

They will have the scores and they will likely be matched to your application file when it comes and thus they will be able to see it. Rule followed by colleges if you submit both SAT and ACT is to use for admission that score the college believes is the higher of the two.

Oh thanks drusba. But is there anyway I can cancel those scores? Or is that not a possibility?

You cannot cancel scores after they come out or after they have been sent to colleges. SAT allows cancellation only before score is released to you.

They may not have opened a file on you though. It’s possible that they won’t keep the scores after two years, so you may be ok. Brown for instance won’t even open your file unless you send them a supplement, so they won’t have any record of SAT scores, hence no way to match up your scores to an application that arrives two years later.

But, if these are your top choice schools you may want to retake the SAT. If they are a school that only looks at your highest scores (superscore school), then that would be the best way to fix this and know that they have your good scores. If these were not your first choice schools that received your SAT, then hope for the best and just keep focusing on the ACT.
