I need help or else I have to go to a community college...3.3 UW GPA 2210 SAT

I'm a junior right now

Sorry guys i've posted a bunch of previous search and selection threads, but once again my scores & GPA have changed

GPA: 3.3 UW (3.75 UW junior year if that makes any difference; i'm completely positive I will get the same grades as last semester)
2210 SAT (710 CR, 750 M, 750 W)

EC: decent

I need colleges that will more than likely offer me full tuition

I've been searching and so far i've found

U of alabama
LSU
UT-dallas (their financial aid guy said i'd more than likely recieve a nice package, but i'm unsure what nice is to them.

Are you a National Merit [Semi-]Finalist?

No i did pretty bad on the PSAT (176) but studied my &*$ off for the SAT and raised my scores quite a bit as you can see

With a 3.3 I’m not sure how likely you are to get full tuition, but you should get some pretty good merit offers. Also look into UMiss, UAz. There is a thread about schools good for 3.3 GPA students in the parents forum, and another for 3.3-3.6.

Alright thanks i’m definitely going to look into those two colleges. What i was hoping for was colleges that calculate gpa for scholarships with all your classes including electives. If the college did that my gpa would be somewhere around 3.6-3.75 UW

For example, Alabama does this, however I would like some other options besides LSU and alabama.

10char bump

Hmm…you have a high GPA junior year, but a 3.3 overall. Does this mean that perhaps your freshman year grades bring you down? If so, try looking at schools that disregard freshman grades altogether, such as michigan or the university of california system. I’m not sure how much money they’d give (especially during these economic times), but with a 2210 SAT you should certainly have options.

Sadly, no. My freshmen year gpa was 3.5, however my sophomore year gpa was 2.75.

I understand your financial uncertainties, but you absolutely do not HAVE to go to a community college with those stats. Is there any reason why your GPA dropped so much from Freshman to Sophomore year? Explain your circumstances in your apps. I just want to let you know that your chances aren’t bleak just because you don’t have ridiculously high grades. Not to bring this back to myself, but I had around an 83 UW average (don’t know what that is on a 4.0 scale) and a 29 ACT and I got into my dream school (NYU) with a 12K scholarship. Please don’t put yourself down just because of the overachieving lunatics on this website. I almost didn’t apply to NYU because teachers/counselors told me I had no shot, but I didn’t listen and in the end got what I wanted. Admissions are generally a crapshoot, and it’s always worth it to try. Don’t let anyone, whether it’s on this website or not, bring you down. Best of luck!

You should take this question to the Financial Aid or Parents Forum. Use a title along the line of “Need full-ride UW GPA 3.3 SAT 2210” and see what kind of advice those folks come up with for you.
