I submitted an essay for a few schools on the common application. Now I'm trying to change the essay for my other schools (applications I haven't submitted yet), I wrote a new one. But it's like... locked! It won't let me change anything.

This is not good.. my previous essay sucked! (It was good enough for my instate schools, but certainly not my out of state schools.) Ohno Ohno Ohno :(

Rumor has it that you cannot change the 150 word "describe an activity" short answer, but you can indeed upload a new essay via the "upload" button.

I don't remember the answer to this question but I am positive it has been posted here before. Has to do with making a copy of your application. Search and you will find it.

Don't worry I had almost the exact same problem. Here's what you need to do, you will need to create an alternate version of your application, which is pretty easy. First log out of common app. Then copy and paste this "https://app.commonapp.org/Application/ApplicantLogin.aspx?allowcopy=true " into your URL bar log back into common app from this seemingly familiar however actually different log-in space(no I'm not trying to phish don't worry) This should bring you to a page that will have "replicate" button just click that button. You will now be redirected to the "My Colleges" page (I forget I did this last night but I can't remember if that is the right page) but there will be a drop down bar that you can choose "original" (the one that you can't change) and "version 1" {2?} (one that you can change.) Go to original and click "MOVE" under the colleges that you haven't submitted 's names. Finally you can fix up your application and submit it.

After you are done submitting you can brain storm some safety colleges for me rofl
