<p>Ok. So my essay is NYU which says about 400-500 words, and Columbia which says 250-500 words (or 1-2 pages). Right now, my essay is 600 words exactly. I'm going to take a risk and shooting for about 550 words. Can someone help me shorten it and critique it?

<p>Word limits are rough. The difference between reading 400 words and reading 600 words is about forty seconds.</p>
<p>If everything in the essay is integral for it to make sense, keep it. If you use indirect or rambling prose, trim it down.</p>
