I need help tonight.

<p>This summer I've taken Geometry-H already an received a 5.0.
I have 7 other honors classes this year (for a total of 8.) , and two AP. My highest possible GPA is a 5.20
My friend will take 1 AP class, and 6 honors classes for a highest possible of 5.14.
Should I go ahead and take AP CS A in addition to AP CS AB so that ranking doesn't drive us both up the wall? (5.27 - 5.14)
At the present time I'm 1/86 and he's 2/86. I have to decide by this week, but I'd like to know for tomorrow, when we may first sign up for online classes.
He's very egotistical, he'll drive me crazy over trying to beat me if we're only .06 away.</p>

<p>Don't be ridiculous...</p>

<p>You need help in more ways than one...you sound like you care about rank (<em>cough</em> egotistical as well <em>cough</em>) as much as him.</p>

<p>Which is more important? Your sanity or your pride? From what you wrote, it seems like that's all it comes down to. You're already taking so many high level classes; just do well in those and keep your .06 gap since it's so important to you! It would be better than taking on another class and then spreading yourself so thin that you fall behind.</p>

<p>Hmm...there's this saying they always say..."get a life"</p>

<p>Well it wouldn't be a completely different class. I was just thinking that instead of taking AP psychology and AP CS AB, I would take AP psychology, AP CS AB, and AP CS A.
Does caring about my rank make me egotistical? I want to get into the NC School of Math and science, and a very good college. I don't want a higher rank to be better than him, but because I want to be a better applicant at schools.
There are only about 86 students at my school anyway.
Anyway he's my friend, and he's always considered academia as a measure of self worth, he needs to deal with that while his with his parents and near friends, not alone in a college. (You should have seen how hard he tried to get to my class in math.)
Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle AP CS AB, so I can decide whether I can handle AP CS A, AP CS AB, both, or neither if I am in both courses.
And as to getting a life, learning is pretty much my life. I find learning fun, and yes, I am a nerd. I go to the library for hours for fun, I watch the discovery channel, I watch the history channel, I watch star trek, I read like nobody's business. Scrabble and chess are my other major pass-times.

<p>Jesus Christ.</p>

<p>Interesting. ;)</p>

<p>does it really matter if he is #1 and you are #2? seriously
i mean wow i didnt know higher than a 5.0 was possible...</p>

<p>but if you think you can handle the extra class then go ahead take it
if you think you wont do well in it then you shouldnt take it because you might like get a B in it</p>

<p>5.0=honors
In a school with no standard classes....</p>

<p>But anyway, if I am able to handle AB, I should be able to handle A and AB at the same time. But I don't know if I can handle AB. We'll see.
CT... if you have nothing more to say... I'm going to have to come over there and.... beat you at Scrabble, so there.
"Hmm...there's this saying they always say..."get a life""
I love this one. Typically sayings are said.

<p>Seriously man, sal or val, it doesn't decide whether you get into Yale (or wherever) or not. 0.6? Seriously, get a life.</p>

<p>0.06 :)
I'm going to try my best to convince my principal to let me take AP CS A also.
Pax et bonum,
James Crowe</p>

<p>Well, it all comes down to whether you think you can handle it or not. Don't take it just to beat him more thoroughly, though.</p>

<p>0.06.... throughly?</p>

<p>Fine... "beat him," then... :)</p>

<p>Good luck, anyway, whatever you choose.</p>

<p>0.06? Makes it seem even more petty.</p>

<p>Well, if it REALLY does matter to you THIS much, then, <em>sigh</em>, do it. Although I would personally find it bland to take 2 AP CS courses. Isn't there any other AP you could take? You might find that more interesting as well...</p>

<p>I'm not sure I could convince my principal to allow me to take 3 unrelated AP classes my freshman year.</p>

<p>freshman year?! Oh dear... You're either crazy or insanely studious. Good luck getting through the rest of high school, lol! But I suppose if you take that on freshmen year, it would be less hard than if you did it junior year or something. At least you don't have to worry about standardized tests yet.</p>

<p>it's great that you love learnin' and all, but add something else to your life other than history channel and studying in the library if you wanna head to top schools. there are enough nerds in the world - it's the well-rounded nerds who make it big. try out a sport or something.</p>

<p>well, it sounds like you have your mind set on doing whatever you have to do to beat this kid, so good luck...</p>

<p>and make sure there's no backstabbing involved. believe it or not, it's better to have a good friend than .06 on your gpa.</p>

<p>Oh my effing God, freshman year? You are a freaking joke. Chances are you won't even be able to get straight As in all these ridiculous classes anyway, so this entire thread won't matter. </p>

<p>You should plan your schedule by what classes interest you, not by rank. The minute you get a B or an A- your entire schedule will go down the drain and you'll be wishing you took a class you cared about instead of two CS classes just to beat your "friend." Freshman year. Sort out your priorities.</p>
