@Brendan1225 : Are you enrolled at the University of Arizona? Given their 4/6-year graduation rates (34%/60%) and your engineering major, it is possible that you will take longer than 4-years to complete your undergraduate degree. You should factor the graduation rates into the decision making process if you (& your parents) contemplate total student loan debt post graduation. IMHO, low income students who have to resort to significant parent plus loans to finance their college education is “asking for trouble”, since, on average they fall into the high-risk pool of students who fail to complete the college education or have taken much longer to do so.
Can your parents contribute anything towards your college education? Do you have any AP and/or dual enrollment credits? If yes, how much “transferable” college credits do you have?
What are your lower cost alternative to UA? Are there any 4-year institution with commuting distance? What about 2-years at a Community College and transfer to a 4-year university afterwards?
