I need help with my college essay.

I have an essay that I need to write, the topic is “how it feels to be you”. For my introduction paragraph, I gave a little background of my life, but I have no idea what to do or how I will even start the body and conclusion paragraph. I’ve never really liked writing or talking about myself. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how I could start the paragraphs off, and what I should include in the body and conclusion paragraph.

Well, you’re asking for the intro, the body, and the conclusion…

Here’s my question: How would your family and friends describe you? How would you describe yourself? If the two answers don’t match, why do you think that’s so?

Do you have any ideas for what the thesis statement should be, thats where i am struggling the most at the moment.

IMO, you don’t need a thesis statement for this kind of question. This is not an academic paper. They want to get to know you. Dive in.

Google: essay hell defining qualities

There is literally a list of words you can use to brainstorm what to say about yourself

Pick your words, then use examples, from your life to explain why that’s “you”

I would begin by jotting down notes- anything that comes to mind… stories, likes, dislikes, experiences. These things don’t have to be huge- you could write down “hates strawberry ice cream,” “I love my slippers…” “My favorite place is the subway…” “My stuffed bear knows me best…” " I love to go to the supermarket" Whatever… and then you can get creative with it…

They want to get to know you. This is not academic.

I would talk about what kind of person you are. Are you happy? Optimistic? Serious? A go-getter? Low key? Those kinds of characteristics. They want to see how you view the world.
