So I've heard back from all the schools I have applied to and here are my results:
Accepted : San Jose State, San Diego State, Long Beach State, Cal Poly SLO, UC San Diego (as a undeclared major), UC Santa Barbara.
Waitlisted: UC Davis
Rejected: UCLA
I was accepted to each one as a Civil Engineering major but I may want to switch to a different form of engineering . I am truly not sure which engineering field I want to get into. I know SLO has the best reputation but I do hear it's hard to switch majors. Every one of these colleges have their strengths and I just want to pick the one that is the best for my future. I am planning to visit all of them before the end of April. Any help/info would help.

If you attend UCSB or UCSD, you are committing to change your major, because neither offers civil engineering.

Try web searching for “[school name] change major engineering” for each school to see how difficult it is to change your major to an engineering major.

If you would like a college town experience and a good engineering education and also offers a good non-engineering education, I would go with UCSB or SLO. I think it is good that you are visiting each to see how you see yourself on the campus. UCSD offers a great engineering education as well, I have heard, but my son did not apply there, so I did not do much due diligence beyond checking into their engineering reputation, which is top notch.

Good luck on your decision. Very exciting!

@ucbalumnus yeah I know, I was accepted into UCSB as a Computer Engineering major. And will do thanks!

@liveonboca yeah I’ve heard so much about SLO and SB . They’re both really top notch . I want to make a decision that I’ve thought out and am sure of. Hopefully hearing more about what other’s experience with these colleges can help me make my decision

If you have not done so already, post this question, or read the posts on each schools thread here and also, join the facebook pages of the Class of 2017 or 2016 and ask questions there, even the new Class of 2018 pages have current students available to ask questions of. Good luck!
