I Need Help!!!!

alright, a few general questions:

1.) When I ask my counselor or teacher to fill out a few letters of recs from all my 8 schools or so, is it okay for me to ask for them back so that I can mail it at a later time, or am I required to make them send the recommendations in themselves? It would be a lot easier if I could just get them back so I don't have to prepare so many envelopes with stamps and rely on them to send it in and what not.....

2.) For my school transcripts that have to be sent it from teh schools, you know, the "official" school transcript, is it okay to request that the school give me a copy of it so that I send it in myself or once again, does the highschool itself have to send it in to all my colleges?

3.) Although my SAT scores appear on my official school transcript, do I still have to send in an "official" score report to all my colleges through collegeboard?

I'm really paranoid when it comes to sending things in on time and making sure they get to their destinations, so hopefully I'll hear some answers to my liking, if not, oh well, thank you.

Well, for one scholarship I gave a teacher a blank envelope and asked him to just put the letter in to give back, sealed and signed. I also did that for the transcript. As long as it was very obvious you haven't meddled with the materials, it should be fine. But it kind of depends on which school you're talking about; I did that for Indiana but I wouldn't dare for Yale.

BTW, it sort of worries me that you're asking teachers for recommendations that you can't trust to remember to mail :/

it's not an issue about trust, it's just that I'm paranoid, like i barely trust myself on such things, becuz think about it, such a small thing as not remembering to mail recs can get u rejected from all your colleges, worst case scenario. Anyone else who applied to a UC? I dunno what the rules are for it cuz they don't really specify, so i would appreciate if someone else could confrim tkm's suggestion with their own experience or what they will be doing themselves..

bump bump bump.........

In our school the GC sends all out-transcripts, recommendations and other supplemental material. I think college board should send an official SAT score. But if you do it yourself, make sure it is sealed and not meddled with or the adcoms may feel that the recs are not "real and honest"

hmmm, i now see what you mean, it prolly is a better idea to get my counselor and teachers to send it themselves, but iwas just thinkin of the hastle of getting envelopes and what not.
