I need help

I am a junior in high school and I really want to get into GA tech. (major in int/global affairs and modern languages)The problem is my GPA isn't very high. Is it possible to get in with a 3.4/3.5 GPA, 1360- I've only taken it once so i'm aiming for a 1400 by fall. I haven't taken any AP's yet but most of my classes have been honors level. I plan to take AP Calc, AP Gov/Econ, AP Psych, AP Chem, and AP Lit senior year though. Does Tech look at your senior grades? I am very involved in my Greek culture, run cross country since freshman year and am president of Goya and FBLA. Is there anything I can do/add to my resume? Does it help if Tech sees that I've attended all the college visits and made an effort?

Please help.

Hey, I think you'd have a pretty good chance. First thing I'd say, is bump that GPA this semester (there's still a good half left), and yes, they do look at senior grades, if you apply after you get your grades (which for my school, was a couple days before the deadline!). That's what I did. At the very least, they look at your course load for senior year, and that courseload looks pretty good. Your ECs look fine, and your SAT score (if you get that 1400) is really good. If you can, you can even try and raise that.

Also, start working on your essay early, don't leave it till the last day when you're stressed out. :-x

In short, it is DEFINATELY possible to get in with those stats, and any tips I could give would just be to slightly better your chances. Good luck!

Dude, you're fine. I just got in with a 1910 (1300 old) SAT score, and probably around a 3.7-3.8 unweighted GPA (4.1 weighted). And, I never took an AP math course in my math and am currently taking Advanced Alg and Trig. Also, I wrote my essay on learning Spanish, and I applied to the ENGINEERING SCHOOL. Your Freshmen Index is a 3060 out of a possible 3600 (mine was about 3200, so you're around mine). You're ECs are good as long as you put time, effort, and leadership into them and put WHAT YOU DID in them and not just what you did (if that makes sense). Basically, I think you have a great shot. Just don't screw around and screw yourself over. That can be bad.
