Good stats, but you’ll also need to show academic passion outside of the classroom, i.e. research in a lab, etc… I had very similar test scores and gpa, but was waitlisted and ultimately rejected. Admissions basically said my academic passions lacked follow through
It’s hard to be specific without knowing your academic interests, but I can try. For example, if you’re interested in political science, you can show academic passion outside of the classroom by volunteering on election campaigns for a state senator, etc… Extracurriculars are about emphasing an area of interest more than joining as many clubs as possible to look busy. When I interviewed at jhu, one of the main questions was what did I do outside of the classroom to pursue an academic interest, its important for them.
@ugcllg thank you for your help! Also do they have interviews before acceptance ? Does leadership experience means I have to be like president of club or it can be something else also ??
There is no way to guarantee admissions. Do your best and apply to several schools you will be happy to attend. If you get your dream, great, but if not you have other options.
My eldest daughter was accepted to Hopkins with lots of EC’s in biotech research EC’s They gladly admitted her, but she wasn’t given a penny in financial aid or scholarships and we couldn’t afford the full fees, so she went elsewhere.
She was asked by her work site to return to school for her Masters degree. Her company is paying her tuition. Guess where she got in again? Yup, Johns Hopkins.
@aunt bea hi thank you ! And I think I’m going to be fine if I don’t get any financial aids or scholarships … All of my cousins went to ivy schools ( Upenn / Princeton ) and my parents seem ok with it … Even though I might not have enough money for it I probably have to apply for a loan … The thing that I’m really scared of is getting in
