I need help

I’m going to 7th grade, I got an A for Science 6 and I think I’ll get another A again for Science 7, I love science. My middle school offers 2 advanced science classes which are Earth Science and Living Environment. Which one is easier and which one do college prefer over the other?

Colleges do not consider your Middle school classes other than Foreign language and Math which would put you on track for taking higher levels in HS. Take what interests you.

Definitely take what is most interesting to you. It sounds like you are doing well but there is a long time before you need to worry about what colleges think.

Take what you want. You’re only in 7th grade- what you take now has no bearing on college admissions.

Here’s what I want you to accomplish in middle school:

  • Learn how to study. Each of us learns differently. For some, flash cards may do the trick. For others, it's outlining the textbook or highlighting the notes. Some kids make up a song that they play in their head to remember information. Middle school is a great time for you to figure out what works best for you.
  • Explore new options. All of a sudden, there are choices of what to study. Don't sweat what you think colleges want, or what your friends are taking. This is a great time to start to determine what you like, what you want to study.

-The middle school years are huge in terms of social growth. Learn how to be a friend. Learn how to differentiate between a real friend you’ll have for a long time, and a short term acquaintance who is fun for a while. Learn responsibility-- at home that means emptying the dishwasher without being asked, taking the dog for a walk, setting the table. Learn how to cook a bit-- just clear that with your parents first. Join stuff after school-- anything that sounds interesting.

All of this is far more important than which science course you take.

Have a great year!

Also if offered honors classes, take them. Try to take Algebra in 8th grade.
Explore various electives if possible. Join clubs.

I agree with all of the above. You’re too young to be worrying about college now. Now is the time to learn good study skill and habits, practice time management and try to enjoy what your school has to offer. Doesn’t really matter you if get a few mediocre grades in middle school. Starting in high school is when it all counts.
