I need help!!!!!!

I was accepted to 17 schools but i have finally cut it down to 3: Yale, Stanford, and Duke. I am a history major and I want to go to a place where I can get an amazing education but also where I can party from thursday to saturday. I havent visited yale or stanford but I will go to the admit weekends. I recently visited duke and fell in love with the campus. The people were so nice and laid back and I went to some amazing parties. I have no idea which school to pick and I really want to hear your input. Can I have a great party life at Yale? Are Duke and Stanford as great for an education as Yale. Thanks for the help and I would really appreciate your guidance.

Congrats on your acceptances! If by any chance u also got into Dartmouth or cornell, you should probably go there because "i hear" they are like party ivies or something......i.e. a really good education as well as really good partiesto go to.....I know this doesn't really help u since u already narrowed ur list, but if they were on ur list maybe u should consider them too.... :)

Yeah I got into both of them too.

Stanmaster, figure out who you are and what you want and the choice will be no problem. Clearly you did not gain focus before applying, so take time to do so now so that you don't end up at the wrong school for you. You can find a party at any school.

Go to Duke or Stanford. I think Stanford is as good as Yale with a better social life.

All schools are excellent but I can not picture Yale kids getting down on Thursdays.

My vote is for Stanford.

Yeah, Stanford. Its the top top school with a social life.

Stanford. The weather is absolutely great, and while I personally woudl go to Yale, Stanford really is quite the party school- the hard part is getting in, staying in is a breeze

Would you say that Yale is much more intense than Stanford or Duke???? I really stress way too much already and I need to go to a laid back school

Yeah, Stanford is more laid back...go there for sure.

Oh man. Stanford is your school if you're the laidback type.

I'll admit, i have never been to yale, but i know people who go there who come back with 'my god everyone is so snooty' complaints, and even more complaints about the weather. Try being laid back while your toes freeze off.

Palo Alto is a great college town. I had a college interview there and I love it. The weather is around 75-80 for the majority of the year, though it does rain a lot during spring (like it is now.) the weather, truly, is menopausal. Sometimes the mornings start out sunny and by noon, its pouring like a riot. It's crazy, but in california, the key is LAYERS.

Stanford is really not snobby at all. It is definitely got the Californian laid-back attitude, and while the title of NorCal's most beloved school, the pride and joy, is Cal Berkeley, you, as a cardinal, get to hate them and boast about how you have to do so much less work than they do for the same grade (seriously, stanford is much more chill than some powerhouse schools, its pretty great.) Everyone's smart, but i personally think its a great place for poeple who have worked their ass off to finally find a place to chill at. I really do not know ANYONE who has disliked stanford, and i know quite a few who go there. I dont know you, but methinks you'll like it.

i really think that Stanford is the place for me. How should I tell my parents to convince them to let me go all the way to california.

I would recommend Stanford. As far as I am concerned, it is the ultimate in undergraduate education.

Stan:

Congratulations on your choices! I would suggest that you visit the schools and actually spend some time visiting the campus(es) and talking to some actual students. You should really go by your own feel, not the opinion of some virtual strangers. You will know what feels right to you.
If you are planning a visit during finals, the students at any campus may be a bit stressed. (You may not see a lot of frisbee throwing on the lawn.) I would suggest that you visit before finals if possible. :)
