I need major advice on the SATIIs! Physics Spanish and math IIC

I am going to be taking the SATIIs this upcoming saturday... the only problem is my finals for the year start friday (not to mention projects...), so studying for the SATIIs is going to be difficult. Currently I am signed up to take the Spanish, Physics, and Math IIC tests

I am a very strong student, I am 1st in my class of 650, however I was only endowed with a strong work ethic, not raw genius.

I am concerned about a number of things.
A) You can switch tests the day of test taking, correct?

B). I was not in AP physics this year, only honors. We were not made to memorize to formulas... we got "crib" sheets. Will that hurt me that badly for the test? I was reviewing for a bit today a Physics study book, and there was some material we didn't even cover

C) Spanish is not my strong point... I get A's, however I struggle. Would it be better to maybe to take literature instead? I hear many native speakers take it and raise the curve?

I was wondering if an idea would be to take the tests I am signed up for, and if need be take literature in Sept. to cover up a bad score (do colleges consider only the best three?)

I am very concerned, I did OK on the regular SAT 2200, and on the ACT 34. I am concerned the SATIIs will hurt me because I cannot adequatly prepare for them... and I dont think I want to be able to prepare at the end of summer. Stanford is beckoning me ( I hope)... I need your advice about what to do...

Can someone help me please! My study patterns are majorly changed by this!

Why is everyone so cruel and making me wait anxiously by the computer for a response!

ok I can tell you about math 2c and physics.

yeah but if you change the date, you'll take the test in october. You'll have to pay additional nominal fee. I wouldn't want to take the SAT2 in Oct, if I were you.

I took SAT2 Physics after my regular summer class(only regular was available). Anyways the main focus is on electricity and magnetism. No calculators btw. I got a 790. It isn't really hard. You just gotta know stuff like W=Fd, n1sin(a1)=n2sin(a2)(not really sure about this formula). It's not that hard. Get PR and Kaplan. PR is good for the practice test but goes too in-depth conceptually. Kaplan is good for concept and practice test, although it is a bit easy.

Math 2c is really easy. Just take some practice tests from Princeton Review.

Thanks for the response... how studying would you say you put into Physics... I do appreciate the "focus on this stuff"... but it would amazing to hear that you put absolutely no time into it and did that well (although I doubt it... :)

Well I did study. Saying I didn't would be lying. But I could have studied harder. Our summer class didn't cover electricity and magnetism. So I self-studied it. I used a prep book. I took like 2 or 3 practice exams. But in general I studied like only for like two days. Don't be afraid of the test. The relativity theory stuff and the other random stuff only account for max 3-4 problems. The curve is really generous btw.

I'm in the exact situation as you are in Physics. I've only taken 1 semester of HS Physics (actually, we're not done yet) and we never learned alot of these formulas... Oh well... guess I can't go see Star Wars again... Dang!

Math IIC: Easy, I'm sure if you're "good" at math, you'll get 800. Just don't use Kaplan to prep.

Spanish: I've never taken, but I heard alot of vocab.

All of these are possible (even in Physics cause the curve is generous; 82% correct, the rest wrong is still an 800)) if you take enough time to study.

Good Luck!

:)

Thanks a bunch... Ill do my best, Im thinking since I have regular physics final that friday, which only encompasses 2nd semester, I will focus on that this week, and friday after school will be all out 1st semester...

I still dont understand if you are allowed to change which test you are taking the day of?

hiwei, what did u use to prep for math?

although physics 800 is possible, i wouldn't say it's easy. All the 800 scorers are talented.. Also, although E&M is big part of the test, i think it depends on which test you get. My friend told me that like 50% of his test was E&M but i found mine to be around 20% E/M...

im in the same boat as you.. well for math 2c and spanish. ive heard math 2c is really easy, and it just goes up to precalc so if you have taken precalc, you should be fine. spanish though seems to be pretty hard.. ive been using the kaplan prep book and there is a lot of focus on filling in sentences that use a variety of verb tenses. ive seen a lot of subjunctive and conditional, and for the passage reading part you need to know a lot of vocab. im really nervous for the spanish sat 2!

i dont know anything about physics so cant help you there.

on a side note: hi hiwei! everytime i see your post i think of my birthday. ha ha.

Yes you can change your test up to the day of testing... they just give you a big book of SAT2s and you select which ones you're taking.
