I need major help!!!

Hi! A lot of the people I know are trying to go into business and majoring in Finance. They all seem like they are going to places like NYU Stern and are trying to work on Wall Street in Investment Banking. Is this really an easy way to make 6 figures? They make it sound so easy and I was wondering why everyone is trying to do this. I know the Wall Street life is stressful but it looks like an easy way to make money. I'm planning on majoring in Computer Science/Pre-med and I feel inferior to their plans because Computer Science people don't exactly make 6 figures all the time. Is a Finance major the best major?

comp sci --> financial engineering --> wall street scientist swag w/ ib salaries

so that meanssss comp sci degree leads to financial engineering qualification thing which leads to wall street salary? cant i just major in finance for that?

you could but it’s different work

finance would be investment banking whereas financial engineering (masters degree, mind you, which you’d need either way) would be using software and thinks for HFT/risk management, etc

it’s more STEMmy in that it’s a lot of math and less stress/negotating

haha this sounds great! so if i double major in computer science and finance i could be qualified to be a financial engineer? and the salary is the same?

you probably need a master’s degree first, and probably (maybe abit less but in the same ballpark)

Haha, major help

I get it.
