I am currently applying to four schools. Two of them are safeties (Ohio University, Miami University of Ohio) while the other two are reaches (Northwestern University and Washington University in St. Louis). I don't seem to have any matches and I was looking for some help! I am planning to major in either journalism or public relations.
here are my stats:

SAT I:

(might go up, the sat scores from november come back tommorow)

SAT II's: n/a (taking in january)
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)
rank 1 of 295 at a public school

I am taking 3 AP courses this year. I took all the AP courses I could possibly take except for AP Chem because it was all year (we have block scheduling) and I couldn't fit it in.

Again, just my 2 cents. Good luck on your search. :)

Adding to Reid's excellent list of journalism schools, I'd add the University of Southern California and Boston U. I'm not quite sure why you're applying to WUSTL - they are not known for either journalism or public relations. Neither are most of the schools on Blaineko's list. If you seriously want to major in either of these fields on the undergraduate level, you'd be much better off with Reid's list and these two schools, Ohio University as well.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! i will starting looking into them today. I just checked my sat scores and i got a 760 verbal, 720 math so i hope my chances get better for northwestern! the reason i'm applying to wustl is because it's a good school in general and i know several current students that go there and say it's amazing. also, i know a professor that can write me a reccomendation.

I'd say you have a good shot at both Northwestern and WUSTL. Frankly, I'd say they are comparable in terms of academics, although I know I will probably be flamed for saying so. :) You really can't do any better than Northwestern if you think you are interested in journalism, although WUSTL is a fantastic school as well.
