I need opinions

Here is my situation…
I’ve always wanted to go away for college and not stay in the same city.
I live in Miami…
I applied to UM and UCF, (accepted spring for UM, accepted summer for UCF)…
I decided to accept UCF and I start in about a week… but I feel like I made a bad decision.
If I were to attend UM i’d get free tuition because my father works for them… and UM is also known for being a better school but I HATE MIAMI!! I need out of this city…
I feel like going away for college would be a good experience being able to live on your own.
Should I keep with UCF? or maybe transfer to UM after a year?

Well… if you hate Miami that much, then going to UMiami and living at home probably isn’t for you :)

UCF is a decent school, but a free ride at Miami is an opportunity that not many get.

Maybe you could compromise by renting an apartment or a dorm at Miami. Maybe it’s not Miami that you hate, it’s just that you need to get away from your family and upbringing for a while and find yourself.

I’d say go with your initial instinct - after a semester at UCF, you’ll know if the school is for you or not, and you’ve given it a fair shake. You can always transfer or reapply…and I did my MBA at U of Miami.

How easy is it to transfer from UCF to UMiami without an AA?

I’m not sure - but call U of M and ask them, they should be more than helpful.

I say go to UM and forget UCF. You have your whole life after to be anywhere you want.

I’d kill for a free ride there…
