I was recently accepted to the University of Colorado and I would love to go because I have heard such good things about this school, but because I live so far away in Maine and have no money to visit, I am not sure what I should do...

is it the end of the world if I never visit?

You should definitely visit any school before deciding to attend. You stand a much greater chance of ending up unhappy with your school if you haven’t visited before enrolling.

My college roommate and several of our best friends had never visited the campus before enrolling. I never visited the campus of my graduate program before enrolling. Most international students never visit before enrolling. If you like what you know about this university, and you can afford to attend it, it is perfectly OK to see it for the first time when you arrive next fall.

Yes, in an ideal world you would have enough cash on hand to pay a visit now. But, if you don’t, it is still OK to take a chance on this university.

Just be sure to account for the cost of travel to and from that campus when you work up your college budget. You might only be able to return home at winter break and for summer vacation.
