I need peoples opinion!!

hi,
i need peoples opinions on this, my grades are average and will be 3.0 (maybe 3.1) at the end of first semester of this senior year. My sat was average, and i took a practice act and recieved a 21.( I plan on taking the real act)
but, i did take ap english, and recieved a passing score on the ap exam.
i need opions on whether any of these colleges will accept me( im not saying i will apply to all of these):

csu(my state schools-all one big common app)
san diego
sacramento
pomona
san francisco
fullerton

others:
uc boulder
oregon state
kansas

privates:
redlands
hofstra
st johns

What was your SAT score?

I think you need a higher GPA for Pomona, Fullerton and San Diego.

Keep in mind that the Calif publics are GPA driven…based on a computation of certain classes during grades 10-11.

The other schools will be expensive…will your parents pay for those?

sat was 1540

i used the csumentor elgibility index to find out.

financially, csu’s are my best option, but the schools that i also researched give need based aid for people who need it(from college board)

???

UC Boulder
Kansas
Oregon State

those are not going to give you the need-based aid that you’d need as an OOS student. Collegeboard doesn’t indicate that it does. What were you looking at?

Keep in mind that need based aid stats at publics mostly deal with instate students…not OOS students.

Have you thought about going to one of the CA community colleges for two years and then transferring to a UC?

that is what my mom tells me i should do, is to go to santa monica college, but i really dont want to do that. If it was my only choice, i would try to stay only one year.
I really want to go to a 4 year school though

anyone else please

Pomona is out of reach for your stats. OOS public universities probably are out of reach for your budget. Most private schools are very expensive; many of those with the most generous aid will be long reaches for your stats. So, focus on in-state public schools that your family can afford, and where your stats are in the lower 25th percentile or better.

You probably need to go to a CC first. Since it sounds like money is an issue, then transferring to a CSU or UC may be your only option. To transfer to a UC or CSU, you have to go two years at a CC, not one.

I think TK has a typo. I think you need to concentrate on schools where your stats are in upper 50 percentile or upper quartile.

OOS publics will not be affordable…you won’t get the needed aid, and you won’t get merit. Privates won’t likely be affordable since you don’t have the stats to get into the ones that give lots of aid.

You have to deal with the realities and limitations of your stats.

How much will your parents pay each year? If the answer is “not much”, then be sure to apply to some CSU’s that you can commute to.

You might want to add California State University at San Bernardino to your list.

my mom can pay only a little, but i do have 3 scholarships available to me that i recieved, plus i would get financial aid(need). I signed up for the act, and i have even took a practice test in my book already.

Also,i just started up school again, and i am taking AP Economics, so that will help i suppose

mom2collegekids: i just found this site yesterday, that you can put in scores for 25th 50th and 75th percentile scores, it really was interesting [College Navigator - Search Results](<a href=“College Navigator - Search Results”>College Navigator - Search Results)

anyone else
