Guys,
MIT is unarguably my dream school. Unfortunately, I didn't realise that until I was about in by Sophomore year. I did A Levels actually. I had 2 A's and 6 B's in O Levels. I got 1 A (Maths), 2 B's (English and Physics) and 1 C in English. I'm currently in Georgia Tech majoring in Electrical Engineering. I took the SAT 1 thrice. My scores are :

10/03 : M/V : 780/550
01/04 : M/V : 730/600
11/04 : M/V : 670/540 !!! < I'm in college right now and frankly speaking, I didn't wanna take this test, but I figured I could improve my english by college reading, which obviously didn't work...

My SAT 2 scores are :

11/03 : Math 2 c : 710
12/03 : Chemistry(730), Math 2 c(750) and Writing 610.

My TOEFL was a complete wreck. I had 260 in the first try and then I was able to make 270. I'm a U.S. national and a MA resident, but have lived in a foreign country all my life. Let me admit, I'm not intelligent, I'm just hardworking. I'm sure my academic record tells that...

I wanted to score high on SAT 1 in November so that I could apply as a transfer for Fall 2005 term. I got rejected as a freshman last year.. What should I do now? I was thinking of taking SAT 2 subjects again in January 2005, but I think that I'll need to do something about this score. What should I do.. ? I want you guys to be honest. I believe in constructive criticism and would seriously want that. I've got an excellent community service and volunteer work experience and have worked in a UNDP funded organization. I think I can pull off a 3.5 GPA this term (Out of 4)... I basically wanted to apply for transfer in schools that are higher in ranking (for EE , my major). These schools are MIT, Stanford and Berkeley. What should I do.. Help me out.. I'm so bummed out right now.....

Hey 31337! Well, I would say just continue working hard, get the best grades you can now, and try and do some research. Transfer admission is very hard (I'm pretty sure much harder than regular) at least at MIT, so just try your best at where you are now and hopefully it will work out! And remember, if transfer doesn't work out, you could always try for grad school. I'm actually friends with a first year grad student here from Georgia Tech. Good luck, and remember that your work ethic and character are what matter most in your future career, not where you went to school.

Hahaha, when I was new I wondered that all the time.

From what I gather, if not enough people reply to the thread to the creator's (or really anybody else's) liking, then the thread sort of dies and falls into the back pages of the forum where NOBODY ever sees it (because people post new threads all the time). So to keep the thread in the "public eye" and to try and get people to post replies, either the author or an interested party will reply to the thread with "bump" or some derivative. That reply will rocket the thread to the top of the forum, where people will see it, and it will also tell the community, "Hey, guys, this question/concern hasn't been dealt with to my satisfaction."

Thanks very much, I've seen this on a lot of forums and have been wondering for some time now. I kind of made that post in jest to test out my suspicions - I bumped the oldest thread in asking that question. lol, now I know for sure.
