Ok so here is my plan.

Go to college under business major

Take over 1-2 of my parents convenient stores

Run them for 3-4 years

Go get my MBA

Work at a highly ranked position at a fortune 500 company????

I am wondering if step 5 is possible. How do people achieve high ranks in large companys. Maybe like Tim Cook did or any other highly ranked position in a company.

Em… Define “highly ranked.” You won’t get a “highly ranked” position (I’m thinking VP) straight out of MBA. You need to work your way up.

Also, I’m fairly sure that running 2 convenience stores is not going to be sufficiently impressive work experience for top MBAs, unless you expand it out into a massive regional chain or something.

Tim Cook joined Apple in 1998 as VP, but got his MBA in 1988 (10 years before); in that time he worked at IBM.

Running two convenience stores would give you a very different skill set than what Fortune 500 companies are looking for out of an MBA. Plus, an undergraduate business education is probably not very applicable to running two convenience stores.
