I need some advice

i had interview today. it didnt go that well for me. i dressed well but i was nervous. it was my first interview in my entire life. I didnt know what to expect. i had some good answers and the interviewer said that was noble. however, i fidgeted too much. is that gonna effect my chances of getting nomination? is interview weight that much for a nomiation? btw i only applied for U.s merchant marine academy for a nomination

Then why are you asking the USAFA board, if you only applied to USMMA?

I was fairly nervous in my first interview...which is also where I got my nomination from. Hope is not lost.

I don't think that your MOC or other interviewer would be overcome with meanness because you fidgeted. Did you look him in the eye? Shake hands with a firm hand? Answer honestly?

You might want to ask the folks on the MMA board; they'll know better.

I had my first interview today as well. I had good answers for all but "why aren't you applying to ROTC" when I already have an LOA. They pounded my on lack of motivation. Any suggestions for how to really just say that I want to go to the air force academy?

Yeah, thats my same problem too. I haven't done my interview or anything but whenever my dad or someone asks me that question, its the same thing. I don't know how to answer it, I just want to go to the Air Force Academy. The only thing I can think of to say Pilot2B, is that you want the Academy expirience and not another way. But thats my two cents. I'm waiting to see what others say simply because I would also like to know and I'm sure others would too. :)

ROTC doesn't have to be in until january 08. Just tell them you are still working on it.

"Sir, I'm still considering applying for a ROTC program, though the deadline is not until January. What I really want though is the entire Academy experience..."

Then continue to expound on why you want to be here, and you're set.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll definitely use that answer today.

i had both my interviews this last week and i thought they both went about the same, i really didnt feel i could have done any better, except the picture they showed me at one, they wanted me to identify Gen Patreus of the ARMY!!! i apply to the air force and they gimme an army guy sheesh...

That's also testing if you know your current events since Gen Patreus was in the news a lot lately.

He's also the commander for our forces in Iraq. That's why they want you to know who he is.

"Why do you want to go to the Academy"?

Because the academy, along with ROTC in some schools, is the best way to become an ouststanding air force officer and leader. That is my ultimate goal and the academy is possibly the best way to achieve it. (just a suggestion! ;) )

We live in an age of "Total Force". If you do get accepted and eventually graduate do not be suprised if at some point in your career you are working closely with an "Army Guy" or even ugh..."A Navy Guy". In over twenty years I had to frequently work with both. Did have a good Zoomie friend that told me "Annapolis grads always seemed about a half buuble off level". I'm just bitter Navy is to yellow to give AFA a second chance in San Diego.

This is absolutely true. I wouldn't be at all suprised if you were stationed at an Army post at some point in your career. We've got tons of Airmen up at Fort Carson, for example, and it's not unusual to see Army personnel around here.

My good friend growing up is now retired Army JAG and he served once on a Naval Base and once at the Pentagon with men and women from every service.
