Currently, I'm aiming high and applied ED to Princeton...(also planning to apply: Stanford, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, Cornell, Harvard, Upenn possibly WashU at ST.Louise)
But I REALLY need some safe, but not too safe, college suggestions...I'm wondering if my level is around UC Berkeley, UCLA... but I just don't know any other colleges that should apply to.... Are Berkely and LA a reach for me??(I really hope not...) I'm planning to go into engineering or business....(most likely engineering...) Just for info, if I get into a less competitive school than UCSD, I'm likely to just go to a community college and transfer to Berkeley...
PLEASE!!! RECOMMEND SOME LEGITIMATE COLLEGES FOR ME!

Do you have any preferences about the size of the college: small versus large, etc. ?

NOPE I don't care about sizes. Only thing I'm concerned with:
1. has to have an engineering department (decent)
2. somewhat competititve, as UCLA, BERKELEY.. (not as much as ivies,.,.) somewhat reputation
3. generous (you can be flexible on that...) financial aid
4. social life! not a lot but at least a lil bit...

Carnegie Mellon sounds like what you're looking for. Duke could work, too.

And for DUKE AND Carnegie Mellon, am I talking around boundary btw reach/match or match/safety? (according to my stats..........)

NORTHWESTERN - our engineering is top notch.

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA.

our social life is superior.............our tradition is..........unbeatable?

I think you will be fine with the UCs. Your Stats are very good! Maybe add one less competitive UC (i.e. Davis or easier) to be really sure.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH By the way, I'm an international student who lives in California....I'm sure this would make everything worse, especially for UCs...

Ok, for these schools -> Univ Virginia, Carnegie Mellon, Duke and Northwestern

With the stats (and the new info about my residence...) given, would these schools classified as my MATCH schools? or more like reachs?

What I'm trying to do is get realistic and aim somewhere lower than HYPS and apply somewhere that I would really get in...(a.k.a Match)
I know these universities are great schools, but are they a match for me? or reach for me like I am for Stanford and Princeton?

I'm just curious -- did you take the SAT II in your native language?

I think you'd also have to take the TOEFL?

110/120 on toefl

Have you thought about Tufts?
