I need some help deciding on my final major...

I just finished my freshman year, and am still trying to decide on a major. At the beginning of the year, I had zero idea of what I wanted to major in, but I now have it down to two. I really like International Studies, because it would allow me to take a wide variety of subjects, but I also think Psychology is interesting.

With International Studies, I would hope to go into either business, law, or public policy. I also speak 3 languages, so I think this will really help in finding a job. With Psychology, I would go into either social work or education. Ideally, I would like to double major, but I've been planning it out, and it seems like I would only be able to do it if I ONLY take the rest of my classes in those two subjects, and take a lot of classes during summer, which might be bad if I want to work or intern during the summers.

I think if I would have known that I wanted to double major before this year, I could've planned it out and done it successfully, but I'm more glad that I even found something I like at all...! Also, I was even looking at a minor in writing and I think this is something I would love to do, but wouldn't be able to if I double majored. Can anyone please offer me any advice? Thanks for the help!

Have you considered org studies? I’d look into it. From what I’ve heard, it’s like a mix of polisci, econ, and psych. Also, think about maybe the ford school or PPE. Just throwing some things out there.

You don’t need a psych degree to go into social work. You only need to get an MS in social work.

It helps to start with the career and work backward. What do you mean you like public policy? You want to be an elected official or a government administrator or a researcher?

Just curious, what languages do you speak?

I like the suggestion of the Ford School because it’s one of the more practical majors. You want to go into PP and there you’ll get a degree in that.

You could get a degree in education, which is practical, or in a subject where you can get a teaching certificate from the school of ed. Can you major in one of the languages you know and get a teaching cert. in that?
