i need some help on where to apply

I'm currently a junior, so i decided to start my college search. The only thing is, I'm not really sure what colleges i should look at. I want to major in something business related (finance, economics, etc) or something related to those. My ultimate goal is to either go to law school (to work in corporate law) or business school. I live in NY and am primarily looking at schools in the eastern part of the U.S. Cost isnt a huge concern, but my sister will still be in college when i am a freshman, so paying 45 thousand a year isnt a desirable option unless i get financial aid/scholarships.

my stats are
Gpa(weighted):3.9-4.0
Gpa(unweighted: something like 3.6-3.8
SAT:i got a 1320 on a practice one(640 verbal+ 680 math) and 180 on the PSAT (taken sophmore year. my old SAT score(that i took today) + the writing section of the PSAT is 1930. When i take the SAT this fall im shooting for 2100 (a modest expectation considering i will prepare for this much more than the other two and my scores have already increased pretty dramatically from my PSAT to my score on the practice SAT)

Extra curriculars: Journalism club (school paper)- 2 years (one year as staff writer and one year as advertising manager)
Tennis- going on 3 years(season is in spring)
DECA- 1 year
Student Ambassador to australia (people to people)
Various volunteer activities with my church
Business Honor society

I cant think of anything else to tell you (im not sure of my class rank) so basically i want to know what kind of schools my stats can get me into and are the best for my major so i can research them further

Thanks, and since this is my first post, Hello

also i was a member of the school band for 2 years and member of the marching band for 1

If cost wasn't a concern, i'd say NYU Stern. Can't be beat for northeast and for business. Your stats make you competitive there. Also look at Boston College, Babson, and Villanova.

Thanks a lot

uva is great for business... idk if its too far south for you, tho? it will be a reach for you, however, particularly out of state..

bump.....................

John:
Rather than rely solely on sort of random replies on here, be sure to run a search for yourself on the College Board site, putting in your possible major and other things you are looking for in schools.

Also be sure to buy (or borrow) a college guide book -- which is a great place to start. (Fiske or whatever.) It will list how selective the school is and what stats are in those ranges.

For $15/year you can subscribe to the US News College premium edition which, in addition to its many ranking lists, can give you good scoop on how generous schools are with financial aid (need and merit based).

The broader and more personalized your search the better.

Good luck!

thanks alot ^^^
