so i am a senior in high school and I got 3 Cs this semester...smh. however those Cs r in AP classes. I am currently in 4 ap classes outta a 6 class schedule. my weighted gpa will rise but my overall will fall. I dont want this to hurt my chances of getting into the University of Southern California. I would really like it if someone could tell me wheather colleges take midyear grades seriously or if it is just to intimidate students. thanks a lot

Why would college admissions want to intimidate students? To me, I see my senior 1st semester just as important as any other semesters during my 9th-11th grade year.

O.o what happened?

3 Cs are gonna hurt.

Usually midyear grades are only for students on the waiting list. But 3 Cs? That's gonna make them re-look your application.

Being perfectly honest, colleges do take midyear grades seriously. It will hurt, but it's hard to tell how much. Junior year and 1st semester senior year are the most important semesters.

The best advice I can give is to add new awards or positions (if any) to the midyear report. If those C's came from unusual circumstances out of your control, a letter from your counselor would help.
