I need some help with what schools i can apply with a chance of 50% or better.

I posted a thread with my stats already, but I am asking a different question now. so here we go
GPA:3.683 UW 4.55W after Junior Year...I had a bad Frosh year. My GPA from 10th to 11th is 3.8.
48 out of 742. And I go to a pretty competitive public high school. I mean.. every year 30 kids go to top 25 colleges. and a lot of kids (like 50 kids) go to U of Illinois
3.73 UW 4.66W after first semester of Senior Year Prolly will be ranked 35 (ish)
ACT:33 (took one again on June 9th) Eng:31 Math:34 Reading:34 Science:34

SAT II:
Math IIC:760 (should retake this?) Physics:don't know yet. Expecting 770 or higher
World History: don't know yet. Expecting 770 or higher

EC: oh joy
Scholastic Bowl 7-11
Captain of B team
MVP in a tournament

Math Team 7-11
State qualifier
I carried the junior team pretty much

Band 8-11
doing IMEA this fall
Distric contest: Good rating

Voluteer:9-11
300 hours so far... gonna do more this summer

Writing published in Creative Communication Essay Contest
(a great accomplishment for me because I came to US in 2001)

PSAT at least Commended

NHS 11

Tae Kwon Do for 2 years. Even though I started in my freshman year, I broke my foot and couldn't do it for a year. But now I am lead the kids through daily exercises.

JV golf 10

Viking Pride Award - awarded to students with the most impressive improvement. (need teacher nomination) I'm so proud of this because I have tried so hard last two years. And about 30 kids from the whole school get it annually.

Tutored A LOT 10-11
I helped a girl in a remedial math class move up to a regular one. Didn't even really charge her... she was poor...
Also helped a girl in a regular math class move up to an acclerated one. lol
tutured a kid from Korea by talking to him on the phone every week.

oh yea. I got a 4 in AP US History exam.... bad
So there u go. Where should I apply and at what colleges do i have a decent chance as ED(EA) or RD?

What do you want in a school? In order to get in you have to like the school and be a good fit, and not just stats-wise.

30 kids to top 25 colleges out of a class of 700+ is NOT competitive.

It will be hard to chance you until you give us scores.

What type of school do you want? Big Uni or LAC? Urban/Suburban/Rural? Northeast, West Coast, South?

There are many, many schools you can get into. We need a little help.

Here are some likely schools for you (the last is a slight reach)--although, as the others said, knowing what you are looking for will help.

Michigan (about 55-45)
Penn State (about 65-35)
Boston College (about 50-50)
NYU (about 60-40)
Tufts (about 50-50)
Ohio State (about 70-30)
Washington (about 65-35)
Boston University (about 75-25)
USC (about 55-45)
Rice (about 45-55)

IMO, Rice is not a 50% or better chance. Rice is around a low reach or high match.

Yeah, I disagree, too. Tufts and Rice are definite reaches (not even matches).

Holy Cross and Trinity

hm. Is there a chance for me at top 25 colleges? ex. U of Chicago EA
Is it possible for you guys to chance me at those places? I would certainly appreciate it. BTW I came to America in 2001 and worked my way up to this. That is the reason my freshman year was bad... (barely spoke english lol)
Would this factor in?

Sure, definitely speak about your experiences in your first years in the U.S. -- it makes you unique (most kids come when they're younger) and it's definitely a part of who you are that's worth mentioning. Good luck!

aquamaree and lolabelle,

Please read my post.

If you will do so, you will note that I ranked Rice as only a 45% chance--not 50% or better. I ranked Tufts right at 50%--although one could argue (like you have) that it should be slightly lower--like slight reach (40-45%).

However, I never can never totally rely on those who are arguing that their school should be ranked tougher to get into--since they have personal reasons for doing so (and I know lollabelle is going to Tufts right now).

can someone plz chance me at top 25 schools? percentage wise
