Alright, so I have been accepted to all of the schools that I applied to. These include: Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, San Diego State, and Cal State Bakersfield.

I applied to all of them with an intended major in Biology/ Biological Sciences, which of these colleges would be best for me? I'm speaking in terms of the major choice.

FWIW, are you at all interested in clinical science/medical technology? I know that there is a huge need for lab techs and that Bakersfield has a good training program for that, including internship placements and good job placement afterwards.

I was thinking of going into the Medical Field but i’m still unsure.

I recently visited Fullerton and the tour guide stated that 80% of their Biology majors get into Med-school while at other colleges it is 60%. I couldn’t find a source to back this up but i would like to know if this is at all true?

There is absolutely no way that is even possible. In the first place, no college has an admit rate that high, not Harvard, not Stanford, not Yale. In the second place, the MCAT is 50% of the first cut. And the fact is that the typical Cal State student is not a strong enough test-taker to come close to acing the MCAT. On the contrary, most Cal State students bomb the MCAT.

Perhaps what the guide meant to say was everyone with 3.7 gpa and 32+ mcat score got into a med school, which could be allopathic, or osteopathic, or offshore: Caribbean/Guadalajara.

In answer to your question, any of the colleges can do bio well – it’s a universal major. Thus, go where you would like to spend four years.

SD probably has more dorms, so a more campus like feel. Fullerton has recently built a few dorms, so it doesn’t empty out as much in the evenings.

Thank you so much for your answer. It’s pretty much the type of answer I was looking for.

I’ve also been looking for which college has the “best programs for the major.” Every time I ask for help, someone brings this up but I can’t find any credible resources that answer which of those colleges has better Biology programs over the other.
