I was originally scheduled for the follow classes:
AP Chem
AP Stats
Honors Gov/AP Econ (they're semester classes)
AP Spanish
Honors British Literature
Gym (mandatory)
Wind Ensemble (top band in school)

However, there were a ton of conflicts in my schedule because of this so now I had to make a ton of re-adjustments... but I am not so sure if I made the right decision--
Now i'm taking
AP Chem
AP Spanish
AP Calc BC
Honors gov/Honors Econ
Honors Brit Lit
Symphonic Band (bottom band of my school-- only one available)
Gym

I feel like colleges are really going to look down on my schedule for being too slacker. I think they'll look down on me for taking Calc BC after I had taken AB this year. Is this even true?
Second of all, will it look bad if I drop from the top band to the bottom band in the school; will colleges question my passion for music?

Are there any other considerations I should take into account?

Calc bc is much harder than stats so I think colleges will look upon that positively. However, I don’t know enough about band to answer on that, but will colleges know the difference between wind ensemble and symphonic band? I think its out of your hands and if your worried about you could have your guidance counselor write a note to the colleges you’re applying to explaining your situation.

I can’t answer whether or not colleges will know the difference but playing in the wind ensemble will give me opportunities (such as playing at all-state and other places) that I wouldn’t be able to have otherwise…

but yes, I probably do need to relax a little bit (or a lot…).

Why not drop band? It’s a waste of time honestly

Your schedule looks good to me!

My advice: Stop worrying about your schedule. A “slacker” schedule is one that includes early release/late arrival, no advanced classes, etc. 3 APs and 2-3 honors classes do not constitute a “slacker” schedule, haha. :)

^^@JHUorDUKE That’s like talking to a student who favors art and say that taking art classes are a waste of his/her time. If the OP likes band let him/her enjoy and participate in it. You may not be interested in it, but it doesn’t give you the right to say “It’s a waste of time…”

Anyway, I think your schedule is really good and better than mine lol. I agree with WickedFan, It’s not a slacker schedule, it looks challenging and exciting. Good Luck.

Think about all the other people applying to colleges with band on their transcripts… Wouldn’t it be better to replace it with some easy ap?

Well, I think a college has to consider that a person in band is going to use a class for band (in my case, it’s two), so they might be a little more lenient on difficulty. If you take a bunch of honors/APs and then a band class or two, the college can’t exactly knock you for not trying.

Take AP Gov and AP Econ or one of the two
