so i am currently enrolled for spring 2011, i requested a term change to fall 2010, and was denied.

does anyone know if there is anyway to try to get into summer b? i called and they don't want to give me the time of day, my mom suggested i go up and personally visit, about a 2 hour drive, which is not so bad. would that help my case?

is trying to switch even worth it, or is spring totally fine? anyone with opinions about spring feel free to help!

They are probably already full for Summer as the Previews are coming to an end shortly. If you are dead set on going to UF, Spring should be fine.

My daughter was admitted to Spring last year, but was lucky enough to have it changed to Summer. My niece however, was admitted this year to Summer and could not go Summer because of a prior commitment. She requested the term change to Fall or Spring and about a month or so ago they said if you’ll go Spring your change request is granted. So she took Spring. She is going to move to Gainesville in August and just go to Santa Fe for Fall semester and live in the same apartment complex as my daughter. That way she’s in town for all the football season and may even be able to buy some tix.

If my daughter’s term request had not been granted, the Santa Fe route for Fall was exactly what she was going to do too.

In my limited experience with our administration, it’s a lot easier to get stuff done if you’re actually at the office then calling them. However, I think either way it’s a longshot for them to change your term this late in the game.

Well my mom and I made the mistake of jumping the gun and signing an apartment for a lease anticipating I’d be going in the fall and now that I’m scheduled for spring she would rather save the money on rent and have me go to a CC here.

Think the admissions would be able to accomodate me?

I’m a little bit confused by your question, but if you intend to go to pretty much any community college in florida for one semester, I’m sure admissions will be able to work with that.

But, if you already signed your lease, arn’t you kinda stuck? Subleasing in gainesville is a crapshoot.

my mom and i signed a lease and then i got into spring and now she would rather save the rent and extra money and have me live at home and go to a CC here, unless i can get my term changed.

so my question is, do you think admissions will understand the situation and switch my term?

if i dont get it switched, you’re right i am stuck subleasing is difficult i’ve heard, idk what we would do then.

Yeah I don’t think they would change terms for that reason. But you could still try to see if they have available space for the summer.

Btw, subleasing is not as hard if you do it early. Be sure to post on Marketplace since alot of students check it. If it’s about money, then yeah go to the CC in your area. It won’t be any different from Santa Fe. But the good thing about Santa Fe is that you get to familiarize yourself with Gainesville.
