I need some serious help!

It comes down to this...

I'm a Junior in Ohio. My guidance counselor is starting to have meetings with us [Honors Students] where we have to list 10 colleges we are interested in and why.

I'm looking for out of state schools (I know a lot of about Ohio schools) that are within 10 hours (of driving) to Ohio.

I'm a pretty good student. 4.2/4.5 - 8/109 - 25 (so far, only taken once) ACT. I have a rigorous schedule and I have quite a few extracurriculars. I am taking 4 AP Exams this year: World History, Psychology (I'm taking reg. Psychology but am self-studying AP), Env Science [self-study], Human Geo [self-study].

-It HAS to have great merit aid options, including full-scholarships based on merit aid if possible. No need-based only schools.
-My faith is very important to me. I would enjoy having a school where at least some students pray and are religious - my affiliation is Roman Catholic but the school does not have to be affliated (publics are fine).
-I plan on majoring in Secondary Education [English], and Minoring in Public Policy Studies as a prelaw major. After graduation, I want to teach for a year, establish residency in the state I'm in, and then teach full-time while going to night law school and summer law school part-time, slowly but surely. In the end, I would like to have a small private practice. What I'm saying is, strong Education and Public Policy schools could be a plus!
-I LOVE theatre. Schools where theatre is hot for non-theatre majors would be great!
-I'm not a super-genius, so the acceptance rate should probably be at least above 20%.
-I want a school with strong school spirit where the students love going to basketball games, I want that atmosphere.
-Nice dorms, Attractive Campus is also a very strong plus..

Hopefully you can help! Thanks in advance!

20% is actually pretty selective...if you want a school that isn't, you should go for more like 50% or higher.

Do the college search on review.com. You can put in a lot of those factors (I think even the school spirit thing), and it's free. USNews.com is good too, but I think the full search is part of a paid subscription to the site. Can't remember cuz I didn't sign up.

St Olaf, Miami of Ohio, Dennison, Wheaton.

Add the following Catholic schools to your list of possibilities: Marquette (Wisconsin), DePaul (IL), Notre Dame (IN), and Catholic U (DC). All have solid English departments.

You probably do NOT want to go to Wheaton in Il. if you are serious about your Catholic faith. Trust me on this.

Consider St. Joe's in Philly, Dusquene in Pittsburg, too

So far the schools that I have on the list: Marquette, Syracuse, Holy Cross, Lehigh, UNC - Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, SLU, Wisconsin Madison, Bowling Green State, UDayton, Auburn, Baldwin Wallace, Ohio Wesleyan, Indiana/Purdue...

Any more suggestions/ideas??

I am bumping this message.

Far, I know:

Willamette (OR)
Gonzaga (WA)
Puget Sound (WA)
Tulane (LA)

Close:

Villanova (PA)
Gustavus Adolphus (MN)
St. John's (MN)
Wheaton (IL)
University of the South (TN)
Guilford (NC)
Elon (NC)
Loyola (IL)

Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, MD would be a good safety/merit aid possibility. Gorgeous, Roman Catholic school, big on basketball.

Anyone else have any suggestions.

I visited Ohio Wesleyan this weekend and all I can say was: I WAS IMPRESSED!
