I need to finalize my college list

So far the following are on my list, in order of preference:

Brown
Wesleyan
Vassar
Yale
McGill
NYU
Duke
Rice
Cornell
UMass Amherst

I have a 3.67 gpa at a good public school, 2350 sat, and a "hook" (URM)

I prefer colleges with a more artsy, liberal atmosphere, and they have to have a vibrant social scene. Other than that I don't have many requirements. I plan on majoring in economics and grad school placement is important. Are there any schools that fit my interests that I'm overlooking?

Macalaster could be another to look at

dont major in economics…if u want to go business study something out of the ordinary…this is the advice that my brother gave me (he goes to Wharton School at Penn)…nearly all the grad students he sees there never went to Ivies but instead went to small liberal arts…he also likes to say that Ivies are way overrated…

I have never heard of Duke, Cornell, or UMass referred to as particularly “artsy”. Sure, with schools of that size you’re bound to find a niche and group of people you like, but if that’s something that’s important to you you might want to reconsider.

I assume you’re in MA and UMass is your in-state safety, correct?

I second Macalester.

Macalester sounds interesting, I’ll keep that in mind

@firebird92: I’m not sure if I want to go into business, I’m looking more toward going to law school. And I really enjoy economics.
Brown is my dream school and I love a lot about Yale too, so I wouldn’t say those are overrated (Penn is an ivy too).

@teenage_cliche: Yeah, it’s my safety. I like Duke because it attracts a balanced student body that excels at academics but knows how to have fun too, and great grad school placement from what I’ve heard. Cornell doesn’t appeal to me as much, it would probably be first off my list if I were to add several more.

Any other ideas?

Oberlin
Bard
NYU
Ithaca College (safety)
Hampshire (safety, although it’s a great school even if you have the stats to go somewhere more prestigious)
