Hello, I am an upcoming senior looking to attend Baylor after my senior year. I am currently 5th in my class at my Florida high school, with a 4.7 weighted/ 3.9 GPA. I have a 29 act (30 super scored) and an 1850 SAT score (1240 math and reading). I know I currently qualify for 16,000 a year academically but I still need to find a way to raise the remaining 30K+. My parents make decent money but not enough to send me to Baylor. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to make attending Baylor potentially more affordable. Any advice would help. God Bless
Most straightforward thing would be to raise your rank and SAT scores and pick Baylor as your first choice on common app. Another is to ask them about your eligibility for an invitation to excellence weekend. They add $2,000 to your scholarship for attending and showing interest. You’ll have a great experience visiting campus and meeting faculty, on top of that you’ll get a prompt to write an essay about your experience and that essay + a good GPA/SAT can be the key to a faculty scholarship. Faculty scholarship covers all educational expenses. if you get a scholarship from your church then sometimes Baylor matches that as well. There are additional departmental scholarships that you can get by maintaining a good GPA at Baylor. File FAFSA, you may be eligible for some aid as well, specially if you have other siblings in college. Good luck with your endeavors, Baylor is a great community.
You can be a residence hall advisor starting soph. year. It covers room and board and you get a private room. You can also apply for separate scholarships in the Honors college. My D had a Betsy Robinson scholarship that helped for 4 years. Also she worked on campus for $10.00 an hour.
@VonMises if you don’t mind me asking, how much was the Betsy Robinson scholarship? I am also struggling to pay as well.
