Hi guys, so I am a senior applying to college and I have pretty strong scores for the most part, but I am concerned that my math scores just aren’t going to cut it for the schools that I am applying to. I plan to apply to the engineering programs at the majority of the schools I am applying to so I really needed to have a high SAT Math and Math 2 score, but sadly they aren’t too high.
For my best individual SAT my subscores are:
M: 710
CR: 720
W: 800
For my superscored SAT (across all sittings) my math score is better but not every school superscores.
M:770
CR: 720
W: 800
I am not too worried about schools that superscore becuase my math score pretty good for those, but the 710 is just really weak for most good engineering programs.
My SAT math 2 score is 770. Many people have told me this is fine but I have looked into a lot of engineering programs and they all say that their median is around 790-800.
My GPA is really strong at 4.75 (I haven’t gotten a B yet).
Also I heard that they peek at your AP scores a tiny bit in engineering admissions (or at least that’s what UCLA said), and I got a 5 on AP Calc AB and a 4 on AP Physics 1
I recently spoke with the UCLA admissions and, as they don’t superscore, they told me that I have a pretty low chance of being admitted into their engineering program.
I also took SAT Physics recently this month and I believe I got 730-750, so not too bad, but not too good either.
I plan to apply to schools such as UCLA, UC Berkely, UCI, Johns Hopkins, MIT, and so on.
Is it worth it for me to retake the SAT or SAT Math 2.
