I currently go to a west coast jesuit university...I don't like it one bit, its essentially a commuter campus and, i need a school that is more residentially based...Any thoughts as to where I should apply? I kinda wanna head over to the east coast, and hopefully to a school that gives lots of financial aid because i'd need that in order to go.

Stats: college gpa: 3.5...high school: sat: 1200 (1800 on the new test 600m, 600v, and 600w)...gpa: 3.4

I intend on applying for winter quarter or spring semester admission

east coast, not in a big city, more residentially based, private with good financial aid...so far im thinking of carnegie mellon...maybe amherst or wesleyan as well, but that would be pushing it.

Since financial aid is an issue, look carefully. I've heard that many colleges don't offer financial aid to transfer students.

Pennsylvania has tons of colleges at all levels. Carnegie Mellon is extremely tough to get into, so your current college needs to be competitive for you to have a decent shot. Try Lehigh, Lafayette, Dickinson, Bucknell, and Gettysburg for PA residential colleges.

Bowdoin hardly accepts transfers at all... on a tour, an admissions officer told me that last year they took three. Although I don't think that is the same number they published, so...?

Start by writing down all of the things you don't like about your school, maybe this will help you to figure out what you are looking for and that will make your search easier.
