I need two schools. One safety and one match!

I prefer both big schools and LAC because I have all big schools so far.
I am also looking for schools with strong biology programs. Going to be a dentist.
Also no more big ten schools I have enough. Thanks.

I've heard good things about Marquette University from some medical contacts. They have both pre med and pre dental programs. There is an early acceptance program for dental school. This program accepts 20 freshmen students conditionally into the graduate dental program. Your ACT is above their minimum cut off.

I don't think you will be admitted to Michigan or UW, but you can always try I guess. A couple of the UCs have excellent bio programs so you might look there, though its difficult OOS.

I heard Pittsburgh is good for dentists. Don't take my word for it.

What's your home state?

University of the Pacific.

I live in Illinois

and U of P is too far for me

What about Creighton?

Ruggs: pre-dental, LACs in your area: Group 1--St. Olaf, Carelton, DePauw, Kalamazoo, Lawrence, Illinois Wesleyan, Macalester, Oberlin, Knox, Wheaton, Group 2--Alma, Butler, Carroll, Concordia (MN), Earlham, Marquette, Lake Forest, Hope, Indiana Wesleyan, Monmouth, North Central, Wooster, Valparaiso, ......lots of choices

IF UIUC isn't your "true safety" for both finances and guaranteed admission, you should take another look at the other Illinois publics. The pre-dent sequence is much the same as a pre-med sequence, and can be completed at just about any college or university in the country (even at lots of community colleges for that matter). On that point, it really doesn't matter much where you go.

Things that you haven't mentioned include just exactly how much money you have available to pay for your studies (in other words, will you need buckets of financial aid), and whether you think you'd prefer a cozy LAC over a big university. On the LAC route, the midwest is full of nice LACs (I'm thinking along the line of Augustana, Coe, Drake, and Luther here) that do a good job of getting their graduates into professional and grad schools. Pull out a map, figure out how far you are willing to travel, draw a circle around your home town at that distance, and then consider the LACs that fall inside that circle. You may be surprised at how many you find.
