I am looking for the UC schools and also some private schools in the east.
(I know this will be a big reach, but I want to try.
Please help me any good suggestions on my reach of my major, please!)

UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB and USC
NYU, Boston C, Hopkins, NW, Michigan
Brown, Cornell, (am I dreaming?, which college is the easiest? CAS, hotel,...)

Thanks guys, I wish everyone get a good result in schooling.

You can knock Cornell and Brown of your list, your SAT scores aren't high enough and your ECs don't really stand out.

Thanks, Any other recommendations?

1350 isn't all that low for Cornell, though it might be a little moe difficult, you'd sill have a chance. Keep it on the list if you want. As far as which school to apply to, they are all very unique and have different majors, do some research before applying to one. DO NOT apply to a certain school because it is "easier" to get into, apply to one that fits. Your UW GPA is kinda low for the ivies and such, they take two highest sat IIs, and is it a tough load? Avg SAT at JHU is 1440, avg at NW is 1400, avg at Mich OOS is hard, avg at Brown is 1430. People there tend to have 3.7+ uw gpa and well into top 5%. THose schools and such would all be slight reaches to reaches.

Your scores are a little low for Cornell, Hopkins, and Brown, but if you show a passion and write a good essay you still have a shot.
The rest of your colleges you have a decent shot at

socal123:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCSB: Safe Match

if you're worried about applying to too many schools, drop one of the UCs...since you're instate, im sure you can get in one of the middle ones (below Berk. but above the easiest UC, im not sure which one is that), so drop one of the easier ones...that way, you can still apply to cornell or brown...however, UCB and UCLA still seem like reaches, so i would cut down atleast one of those reaches (brown and cornell are both on the east coast...ask yourself some questions and give each question and importance value of 1-5, then rate each one: are you sure you're ready to go that far? tuition costs? college opporunities? ect...then multiply the score by the importance, and the one with the lowest number loses...its called an evaluation matrix, we use them in engineering frequently)

Someone might have done this already, but I'll give you the SAT ranges for some of your colleges 9according to the College Board):

Brown: 1330 - 1530
Cornell: 1290 - 1480
USC: 1270 - 1440
J Hopkins: 1290 - 1500
Boston C: 1250 - 1420
NW: 1320 - 1500
Michigan: 1220 - 1420
NYU: 1240 - 1420
Don't know enough about the UC's.

You're in range for all of these schools. Your cookiecutter EC's and low US History score could hurt you though.

Don't forget that UM's avg SAT scores are probably higher for OOS students...

Being in the 50% range means little, given that 60% of kids at top schools are hooked. So if you're not an athlete, legacy, URM or development candidate, you want to look at the 75th percentile for a realistic view of where you need to be.

All right, let's say that 60% of all applicants at a top school are hooked (60% a likely number at HYP, etc, prbly a bit high for JHU, Chi, etc.). I'm assuming that 5% of all applicants overlap b/w hooked and at top 25% line (a conservative number, I'd say). So that leaves around 20%-25% of total students without a hook or in the top 25% line at such schools. And where would these people fall in; the 50%-75% line, I'm assuming. (Check my math, I prbly screwed it up). Obviously, unhooked applicants have a much better chance at top schools if in the top 25%, but it seems that people in the 50%-75% range most certainly have a decent/realistic chance.

This is, of couse, just my opinion. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong.

UCLA and UCB will be problems for u. UC's have weighted GPA ranges
4.0 above 50-54 percent make it
3.7-3.99 11-15 perent make it
3.5-3.699 6-8 percent make it
You fall into group two. Your already at a disadvantage but ppl wtih a 2100 and above had an 80 percent better shot then someoen who has a 2090 and below sipmly because hitting that 2100 mark is actually dififcult. your at a big big disadvantage. ur already in bracket 2, and ur under 2100. u will prlly end up being in the maybe pile but unless ur an athlete/has extenuating circumstances i.e. came from worn torn country in 10th grade or something, ull be a long shot. and also the fact u have a 3.96 with a 3.58 means u didnt cap out at 8 semesters weighted (8 extra points) so you didnt challenge urself ocmpletely either. gl.

"You can knock Cornell and Brown of your list, your SAT scores aren't high enough and your ECs don't really stand out." Please don't knock schools off your list bc of what people on CC say... We are not experts. DO your own thing!!! PLEASE!!!! gosh, this website frustrates me sometimes. I started a thread like this but I never let it drastically change my plans for colleges. In fact, I learned about a college that I am now considering. What I am trying to say is, we are not experts. No one here can tell you whether you are going to get in or not. Apply! Pray! Get Accepted! Get Denied! this is only one part of life that most of us at CC are goin through. Be hopeful, and reach for the stars
