I've noticed that the people on this forum who discuss their scores are either really smart or prepared well for this test...

I used to consider myself smart. My score completely killed my self esteem.

How can I get at least 2300 to redeem myself? I feel like crap...The math. I don't what it is about the SAT math that gets to me. GODDAMNIT, I 5'ed AP Calc BC exam, so I thought I'd do well.

How can I better prep for SAT math? SAT math...(I'll admit my score of 610)

Also, the goddamn essay. Photography. F%$# that. I received an 8.

Seriously, my top priority (after AP exams) is to prep my a** off for this test in June.

Give me all your tips, secrets, and book recs. I guess I'm one of the people who must prep. No shame in that.

*Math is my biggest struggle...

Also, if I don't do well 2nd time around, is a 3rd time detrimental to college admissions?

OH YEAH, what does bump mean on this forum? haha..

OMG I am in the same exact boat as you. So im in Ap calc AB but just in general I have always sucked in math. Today I got my SAT results and I got a: M610, CR690, W760=2060.
I really don’t understand why i did so bad on math and I really need help on it because if i was good in math, i feel like i would be able to get at least a 2150.

This math score was even worse than my practice scores and Psat math score so yeah and it seems like everyone does well on math so i feel really stupid for getting a 610 compared to all the cc’s.

I probably can’t offer much help, i think im just going to read though people’s replies because I can use the advice too but I think ultimately im just going to take a Sat class during the summer and then take my test for the second time in october. An don’t feel too bad because remember, only the best of the best come onto collegeboard.

Alright buddy I was in the same boat.
I’m a year ahead in math, and I’ve done the same thing with the AP tests.
I took the PSATs in 10th grade and got a 80 in the math. I had just finished alegebra 2 and geometry (I doubled up). Math 1 is predominately middle school, fresh, and soph math. So the SATs roled around in January and i thought i could dominate them. I was wrong. I recieved a 660. I was ****ed off! I sulked for abit, but then I bought a princeton review book, and worked my arse off. I took them in March and just got them back. I got an 800. I tracked my mistakes and they were basic concepts that I had forgotten.

My advice
Put atleast 20 hours into the math section of the SAT
If you notice you are only missing hards just do the hards (its pointless to do easy questions)
Review ever answer you got wrong and record it.

It’s ok! I got a 500 on the math section for a practice test. Then, i spent a few hardcore months reviewing Amsco math and Collegeboard’s bluebook. On the most recent SAT, I scored an 800.
don’t be frustrated; the sat does not measure your math ability. I’m sure if you practice more and become familiar with the time constraints you’ll score an 800!

Bump! lol
And Thanks. I’ve really been beating myself up for the past few days for my math. I feel a lot better. A bunch of the CC users seem like bright individuals. It’s nice to know that some of you guys had to study for remarkable scores.

Is one month (after AP’s) ample time to cram math (and brush up on CR and W)?

Dude, its no big deal. I got a 2030 my first time. Five weeks before the test, I realized, oh *****, I should probably start studying. So I did. Hardcore. I studied about 35 hours a week for five week, by just doing practice tests, any that I could get my hands on. I went through PR, Kaplan, and CB. Twice. I just looked at my mistakes and started to notice patterns in the questions.

For the essay, it was a bad topic, but look at that thread, How to Write a 12 Essay in 10 Days. It really helped me. I brought my score up over 250 points to a 2290, and I’m no genius. It just takes hard work.

Cramming for a month is fine, I only had five weeks.

Me too. I was aiming for 2160, soo I guess I overshot a bit :).

But all my practice tests were in the 2100-2230 range, never higher. I guess the adrenaline helped my brain even though I had a minor panic attack in the second section.
