I need your help, please.

Long story short:
Attended the Maryland Institute College of Art for 1.5 years.

WENT TO SCHOOL RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE:

-A big factor: my stepfather threatened to never let me see or speak to my 3 yr. old sis again (biological father suggested I take a year off) (ugh long and complicated lying parents story, sigh).

LEFT BECAUSE:

-$$$ (one can only take out so many loans with 11.9% interest T__T )
-snobby rich hipsters=99% student body
-faculty/assignments (esp. academics)=joke
-most everybody else I didn't cover=rude and unhelpful

CAN'T GET ANY AID EVEN IF I WERE TO GO BACK BECAUSE:

-Though I have no connections to my mother, I am considered a dependant because of my age and she makes too much for me to get much aid (screw you FAFSA). Oh, and did I mention I can't declare myself independent because my parents refused to ever teach me drive/have a job (aside from work study as school), hence, I can't get a job. AUGH.

POSSIBLE MAJORS (preferably animation AND language but...)

-animation
-illustration
-languages (most any/though I studied Japanese throughout high school)
-linguistics

IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS:

-study abroad

So yeah...that's the gist of it. Any help you guys could provide would seriously be appreciated. I'm struggling here. :( :( :(

What can you do, college-wise and job-wise? What’s your GPA? Who can you trust? Where are you happy?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

First, you should probably ditch the “woe is me” card. You’re in college. Not everyone has that luxury.

Second, if you don’t like your school then, if feasible, transfer.

Third, there’s millions in unclaimed scholarships and grants for students to study abroad for free or close to it.

astchancexi–Let’s see…I’m not quite by what you mean when you ask what I can do…I’d work very hard at any college I might be able to attend (financially), or job that might hire me…

My GPA was 3.7/8 in high school, and I probably had a B average in college.

Trust? My grandparents I suppose, but they can’t help me financially. :/

In my dreams? I’d have graduated from college with degrees in both animation and one language. And I’d have studied abroad. To start, I’d probably be working small animation/illustration/translation jobs, while working towards getting accepted into a more stable job.

PlattsburghLoser–PLEASE don’t patronise me–I was born to a single mother on welfare who was the first in the family to attend something after high school (a technical institute) and, frankly, I’m not PLAYING anything, I’m stating the facts, which are at this point, somewhat bleak. Plus, apparently you didn’t even really read my post, seeing as I made it clear that I’m not IN school. Oh, and if you’re gonna talk about all these things being available, why don’t you actually suggest a tool or site, rather than wasting your and my time with your snarky little comments. Kthxbye.

Oh and one more thing–I know many people can’t even do this, but on the other hand many can–they can do exactly what I did–and take out EVERY CENT not covered by scholarships in loans.

I was hardly patronizing you nor was I being snarky, and if you thought I was, then perhaps you should grow thicker skin.

And maybe grow up a little while you’re at. “kthxbye?” Really? Are you twelve?

If you can’t handle receiving comments, whether or not you agree with them, then get off the internet. Perhaps you should spend your time bemoaning and writing angst-ridden poetry about your horrible college-educated life in a journal. You seem like the type that does that.

The world is so cruel to you.

i agree, you do sound like a whiny twelve year old. i thought i was on neopets for a minute.
you were given sound and straightforward advice. quit stroking your wounded ego and take it.

I like how you can’t see I was using it ironically.

People. Stating facts which are not gleaming with prospects is not whining. I have a brain and when I ask for advice I don’t mean I want the generic pep talk advice high school guidance counsellors give, I want information I can actually apply. Sites I can search. People. School names. Is that so much to ask?

Aiyaiyai.
