I Need Your Help with Questbridge Chances.

My school doesnt have a college advisor, so I came here for help.

Primary Stats:
3.5 GPA (school hasnt been challenging, so I've always put more effort into learning outside the curriculum)
2090 SAT (Looking back, I shouldve studied)
30 ACT (didnt have time to study, brealy kicked myself in the butt by not bringing a calculator, shouldve had a good nights sleep and breakfast, but oh well, right?)
I'm thoroughly convinced I'm much smarter than my test scores.

Extracurriculars:
Drum Major, Band
President, Senior Class
VP, NHS
VP in other community service orgs
Started The Lambda Club at my school to promote STEM fields
Most Important Accomplishment - Extensive Tutoring I've done at my school to help prepare students for college--curriculum here really sucks)
I've had to become a college advisor, mentor, commumity activist and teacher here.

I produce music. (Im working with a couple local musicians.)
I program. (Im currently working on software that'll teach kids SAT vocabulary words.)
I write. (Short stories and small screenplays are usually my thing, but recently, I've tried to take up poetry.)
Heavily involved at my church.

Background Info:
African American Male
Low Income (<$10,000 a year in a single parent home of five)
Go to a severly underfunded, inner city school
For a little context, all students are low income, and the average SAT score is 1100 (thats not just math and reading, CC.)

Situation:
To my surprise, I was named a Questbridge Finalist last semester.

Trying to take advantage of this blessing as best I could, l applied to many schools. Colege Board and Questbridge made apps free, so why not?

Schools I've applied to (pretty pretentious list..dont judge me..ha)
Rice
Stanford
Brown
Wesleyan
Oberlin
Carleton
Penn
Northwestern
Yale
Cornell
Occidental
USC
Harvard
MIT
Trinity (SA)
Williams
Brandeis
Morehouse

What schools of this list could I get into? My number one choice is probably Rice because it felt like a fit the first time I walked on campus.

App Info:
I think I pretty much killed all the essays, and QB can only help.

Ha… 48 views, no reply? Bump

No high schools kids that post here have much clue for anyone’s chances at highly selective colleges, much less a QB applicant. How much value do you think your opinion would be if you answered some of these threads? Since you are not seeking advice nothing really matter what anyone else thinks. I think you would have had a better chance if you had done the match. But you should get some acceptances depending on your essays. I hope you didn’t make a bunch of excuses in the package or come off as a donkey. Post your results in the QB subforum (under Financial Aid forum) and should be exciting times. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback, BrownParent. I’m just nervous, is all.

What kind of excuse is this?.. If your school wasn’t challenging, you should have gotten and maintained 4.0 GPA.

Spirral, you have a valid argument, but situation is a little bit more complicated than I put in text. I just didn’t feel like putting my life story on the internet. Without freshman year, I have a 3.9 GPA.

I don’t think a chance would ease your nerves. Simply put, no one can provide an accurate answer. You already turned your application in. Just wait.
