I've been accepted to NYU for fall and I have 5 other schools that have yet to respond. They all have said May 15 or that week will be the day. However I have to respond to NYU on May 15th. A few of the schools told me to talk to NYU, but i didn't tell those schools where I got in at. Some schools want to see my spring transcript too. I don't know how to word or exactly how to tell NYU or the other schools I need decisions ASAP. I have yet to find out about NYU's financial aid. They told me to call back around friday. And that might be a big decision factor if i don't get something. It's finals week here at PSU and this stress is ridiculous. You would think they'd have like a common reply date or something like last year. any advice would be well accepted and helpful. thanks.

I believe that you have two options:
1. Call up NYU and ask them for an extension of the reply date.
2. Ask the other colleges you have applied to and request them to give their decisions a week before.

I think you should tell them your problem straightforward. Even for freshman admissions, some schools have rolling admissions and they want a reply from the admitted candidates much before May 1, the common reply date. (something like your situation?). Thus, some schools like Brown explicitly mention that in these cases, the applicant should call up Brown and inform them of this problem and they'll release their decision at the convince of the applicant.

I had a similar situation erupt-I just called Georgetown and asked if they had a decision on my file yet. The person I talked to told me to e-mail the director of Transfer Admissions at Gtown. I e-mailed her and told her my situation; I think you should also tell the other schools you applied to your situation, but there is no need to tell what school you were accepted at.

If they need to, these other schools may ask for a copy of the acceptance letter (as Brown does). If you are worried about hurting your chances at admission by rushing the decision, make a deposit at NYU and wait it out. I know this may seem like a lot of money to throw away, but just work really hard this summer to make it up.

NYU is less likely to change their date, because it will most likely mess up the rest of their transfer process.

I hope this helps.
