COLLEGES:

Safety: SUNY Binghampton (need more)

Okay, I know I have to narrow my list. My mentality is, for each stratum, to apply to 1 pre-med school, 1 psychology/clinical psychology school, and 1 international relations school. The thing is, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RANK THE SCHOOLS!!! I don't know which schools are better, like for example, will JHU have a better pre-med program (yea I know, no such thing, just do your best at the courses you can in a college you fit in) than Harvard? for primary care? Will it get me into the graduate school I want? I don't know! I'm even more lost for the psychology schools and the international relations schools. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I would really appreciate posts from Bigredmed and bluedevilmike. JHU is my first choice because I really feel like I fit there, and I need to know if I'll get in there.

If you guys can suggest any others schools in pre-med, psychology general, or international relations for each stratum, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! also, please give evidence for your suggestion!!!

once again, thank you SO MUCH for your time, I sorry to waste it...

anyone? please?

don't understand how Princeton is in the "range" category??

oops. that's supposed to be reach...

still, PLEASE HELP ME

You'll get your range and safety schools, and about half of the reach colleges. You have nice ECs, SATs, and GPA.. but.. but NO MATH IIC ?!? YOU'RE A BAD BOY!

thank you very much! really? a math 2 is necessary?

Well math is one of the easier (IMO) subject tests to get an 800 in.

oh... do you think if i take the test in november i can still make it for early action/decision?

and if i changed my reaches to: Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Rice, Georgetown, and Johns Hopkins, what do u think my chances would be? I'm also considering (again) Cornell and Columbia and maybe UPenn

First, I think your chances are pretty decent for Johns Hopkins. Your SATs are all in their middle 50% and your GPA/rank are great. I really think that's more of a match/high match for you than a reach.

Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Columbia, Penn...all reaches. But they are for everyone. You're certainly an above-average student, but everyone applying to those schools has credentials that are miles above the ordinary. It won't hurt to apply, seeing as you certainly have a chance at one or two acceptances from that list, but just make sure you don't put all your eggs in that basket.

thanks! see, my dream career, so to speak, is to become either a psychiatrist or a neuroscientist (maybe neurosurgeon) and join Doctors without Borders (a.k.a. Medicins Sans Frontieres). So i wanted to get the best pre-med/psychology education I could. Any suggestions? I know that basically there is no such thing, that you just have to do good at core science classes and have good advisors and stuff... but still. Stanford has the best psych. dept. in the nation, I've heard, and JHU is like a powerhouse of med students, and the others are something of a compromise in between, or so I think. Please correct me, offer suggestions if u can. Thanks!
