Hello, I am a rising sophomore and I think I would like to transfer after this year. I currently go to a small liberal arts school in Minnesota, where I have taken all the toughest classes, bio, bio 2, chem, o chem, physc, calc 2, as well as some others. I have a 4.0. I have done a little research, and right now I am at a summer medical program. I really want to be a doctor.
I was wondering if you all could suggest some schools for me, I already have an idea about a few. Here are some stats.

High School GPA ≈ 3.75
SAT 1800/2400
ACT 26 (I really hated my test scores, but obviously I can still perform well in college)
College GPA 4.0
E.C. I am a member of the college Dance team. I enjoy doing research, I was a member of a January term chem research team. I shadow doctors in my home town. I volunteer off campus at a community center with children who can't go home after school.

I would really appreciate suggestions for schools in the New-England/Atlantic area. Thank you so much and if you want any other stats please let me know!

bump, any suggestions please?

I don’t know if I could make any suggestions but you should be good for anywhere you want to transfer to.

I think Wesleyan or Trinity would be a good fit for you if you wanted to transfer to a New England college/university. Heck you should even try for Yale but that’s reach for everybody but who knows maybe you could get in.

Thank you Kevin! I am kind of interested in the liberal arts schools, but I am not throwing the larger schools off the table either because I know research opportunities will be greater at those types of colleges.

Does anyone else have any suggestions please?

A 4.0 with a tough curriculum may get you through the door to any of the top schools. Sweeten the package with good recommendations and an essay catered to each school and I’d imagine you’d be near the top of the pile of applicants to the Ivies that accept transfers and other top schools. I’d suggest UPenn, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, JHU, Brown for the larger universities in that area.

Are you attending Carleton?

Thank you iansown! I actually go to Gustavus. I have friends at Carleton though!
What do you think about the chances between one of those Ivies and say… Amherst, or even Colby or Bowdoin?
I know that they all admit different numbers, but for the small liberal arts schools is it just kind of “luck?”

Hm, I know that Colby accepted only three people for Spring Admissions. Liberal Arts schools definitely have smaller spaces for transfers so I couldn’t give you an answer as to how Admissions decides the top three of a pool of even just ten stellar applicants. You just have to try.
