I think I have a really small chance of getting into a 4 year college. I live in California and I was planning on going to State but I don't think I'll get in!
My high school has information on the GPA and SAT scores of students who got into certain colleges. And they have the average GPA for students who got into schools like.... UC Davis or UCSB for example. They also have the average GPA for students who got into other popular schools including CSU's and you know what, the average GPA is REALLY high. Like holy ****. My school is weird... The average SAT score here is 1800. Why are CSU's so hard to get into??? The average unweighted GPA for the past year for ppl who got accepted into CSU long beach (from my high school) is 3.42 with an average SAT score of 1813. -_-
I thought you only needed a 2.0.
Are there any state schools that will accept me for sure? I just want to go to college.

As for the uc’s you are in for UCR, UCM. As for the csu i say in at all except long beach and cal poly.

UCM - average gpa… 3.48 , sat 1785
UCR - average gpa… 3.55 , sat 1811
sigh… are you sure I can get into these?

UCR had 4% of enrolled students with a 3.0 or less. UCM had 10% at 3.0 or less. At the CSU’s, this number gets higher (CSUN has an average GPA just over 3.0).

So is it hopeless? No.

When I first got admitted into UCR, I was at a 3.04 GPA and that’s including my senior GPA’s weighed in. Prior to that I was probably at a 3.0 or a 2.9, so don’t always lose hope.

If anything you can always go to community college, which I actually recommend. After a year of UCR, I realized it was not the right fit for me and I could actually work hard at a community college and transfer to UCLA. So I ended up going to community college, wasting a year at UCR.

3.0? Unfortunate, but it’s not terribly bad. You have a shot, although it’s not a very good one.

You can try taking the SAT/ACT and scoring well. That’s really all you can do besides EC’s.

Good luck!

Please chance me back!
