Vanderbilt University-RD
Baylor University-RD (Safety)
Rice University-RD (#1 choice)

Thats my list so far. I know it looks lame and thats what my friends are all telling me so i need some suggestions of great top schools around TX (Please do not suggest UT-Austin i despise Longhorns).

You should take Math IIC, not Math I.

How about Tulane and Purdue?

Tulane i marked off my list due to the fact that its a pretty weird campus… i read somewhere that 33% of the students have STD’s. and thanks for the Purdue suggestion. Any other schools that you would like to suggest?

Maybe Rose Hulman, University of Illinois and Georgia Tech.

OP, I really don’t think you should write off Tulane before visiting/more seriously considering it. That STD statistic sounds like a silly Princeton Review listing.

Your resume here is excellent. Are you willing to consider West Coast schools? I love it here, and I can’t speak too much (personally) about colleges in other states… Of course, you know the UCs attract a lot of pre-med students. :]

If you’d consider California, check out the U.C.'s, Pomona College, Harvey Mudd (science emphasis), and the University of Southern California.

Baylor doesn’t offer Chem E. There’s always A&M.

Can I make a suggestion- don’t base the undergrad school you go to around being a pre med student.

Initially any person with a vague interest in science is a pre med (I blame high school guidance counselors) but as students get exposure to different areas people choose different careers like scientists, pharmacists, nurses, engineers, chemists, public health etc As well as the many who decide that science isn’t for them and go into pre law (which will later be followed by business).

Choose a good match for yourself that offers a broad range of opportunities. Who knows, maybe you will still want to be a physician or surgeon after undergrad and then you will be happy that you chose a school that has research opportunities, nearby hospitals to gain clinical exposure, strong reputation in the sciences (Rice does not have this in biomedical science) and a supportive atmosphere to glean letters of recommendation.

You need to sit your parents down and have the BIG MONEY TALK with them. Just exactly how much money will be available for your undergraduate education? You need to run some of the FAFSA calculators (start with the one at [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org) ) to see what the colleges and universities are going to think your family can pay. This will probably be a very different figure from what your family thinks it can pay.

When you have the numbers, go find yourself a rock-solid financial safety - probably one of your state schools, and you are soooo unbelievably lucky because Texas has several great uber cheap state schools. I know you hate UT-Austin right now, but you might like it better after you compare prices a bit.

Wishing you all the best.

^I’m really hoping for Rice because they meet 100% of need based financial aide plus if you make below 60k (which my parents boarder) they pay full tuition i heard.
Any other schools? Do i have a great shot at Rice? Ive been really active in contacting Rice Alumni and doing an Interview!

Rice is right across the street from the largest medical center in the world. It has a very stong reputation with the medical center. There are a lot of opportunities for internships/jobs. The new Calloboration Research Center is soon to open up next year, providing even more opportunities. “This new center will facilitate collaboration between researchers of different scientific disciplines from Rice University and Texas Medical Center. The site physically bridges the gap between the two campuses, and the building’s “collaborative hub” is designed to support the interdisciplinary dialogue necessary for research in the Information Age.”

bump
Anymore Rice comments?

I’m surprised you’re not applying to a single Ivy.
