Greetings,

I am currently a senior in high school, and I am interested in applying to very selective schools, including Stanford, Brown, Harvard, Yale, ect, ect. Unfortunately, like several other public schools across the country, my school faced incredible budget shortfalls before the 2011-2012 year (when I was a junior). Before that, I had taken two years of German, but my school cut all German in the budget cuts. At that point, the local community colleges didn't offer any German 3 and I was unaware of the possibility of taking online language classes through a college.

Thus, as I am preparing to apply to several top tier colleges that require 3 or more years of a foreign language, I am only left with 2 years of German. Will this serve as a disqualifying factor and is there anything I can do to change it (for example, should I enroll in an online college third year German course now)? If you need the rest of my academic and extracurricular profile, I'm more than happy to provide it.

I'd be more than happy with responses from anybody, but I'd especially like answers from somebody with inside knowledge of selective colleges or who has gone through the college application process already. Thank you all in advance!
